I am shooting this summer in Maui. I need a couple of locations to shoot. I am basically looking at beach and waterfall sites. Any ideas?

Never been there but having shot all over the Caribbean, I'm sure you're going to get some great shots.

Hopefully someone else can actually be helpful smile I can't wait to see the results.

I live in Maui and shoot on many local beaches multiple times each week... Send me a note on what you looking to achieve and I'll help you out with a few good locations.

Hey Rick... I know the kind of beaches you like... cause we both shoot at some waycool spots here in SoCal.  Try 'Shady Beach'... it's about 2 miles north of Lahaina... just off the main road on the way to Kaanapali... about 1/4 mile north of the Maui Parks & Recreation Facility.  Waves come in and break right underneath the trees... freakin cool place to shoot fur sure... borat

If you're going to be doing any kind of professional/commercial shooting, consider NOT doing anything at Ka'anapali Beach. There are very tight restrictions on professional/commercial photography there and if you get busted its a hefty fine. There are many other very scenic beaches which are not as tightly regulated. I sent you a private message with several beaches. Even then, though, there are some regulations and permits required on just about every public beach so you do run a little risk if you are doing professional/commercial photography without a permit. The permit is free, through the Hawaii Film Office, but to get the permit, you need to have liability insurance, with the state of Hawaii listed as an insured. If you are going to be doing professional/commercial photography on the beaches, you might consider hooking up with one of the local professionals who already has a permit. Keep me in mind......-Ken
