That they're going to need a rather involved escort and maybe wheels?

There are some agency models, and others, who choose not to list their correct age for privacy (to make them less searchable).

Either that or they look really good for their age wink

They obviously don't want anyone to know their age for their own personal reasons.

So they all got together and thought 116 was a suitable number?

It's the oldest age MM allows.

They don't want to be found in the "browse" searches.  That's about it.

To avoid searches.

The thing is, it doesn't work anymore.

What does it mean when a MMer is 116 years old?

It means you should probably watch out for their badass escort!

I think it means they have a really good plastic surgeon. However if you ever decide to work with one that age make sure your liability insurance is up to date.

They want to be a model, and are on a networking site to find shoots, but have a bad sense of marketing, as they won't be found for the vast majority of assignments/searches.

They only shoot TFG! (Trade For Geritol) Or TFD! (Time For Depends)

It means that they are hired based on looks/experience, therefore it doesn't matter how old they are, it's about how old they look.
In a looks based industry with today's advanced skincare/ and beauty technology I'm not sure why age is an issue (unless they are underage of course).

I find it weird.  It probably means they're embarrassed of their true age and when I see that I skip right over it.

It becomes an issue when it is lied about. Makes some wonder what else is being lied about.

Being hired based on looks/experience is fine, when people are first able to find the model. Choosing an age outside the range of the normal Mayhem search criteria guarantees that they are not being found or considered for the majority of assignments. Not the best approach to marketing your services/talents.

MM isn't the end-all-be-all of model marketing, and not everyone uses this site the same way for the same reasons.  For some, it is their marketing tool - for others, it's where many come to scout out trade/test/creative opportunities, not be scouted for assignments - that stuff comes through the agency.

These sentiments - i.e., models lying, models being embarrassed, models being immature, etc - are often expressed by amateurs who are not familiar working with agency models or working in the professional mainstream modeling world.

Go check agency boards if you don't believe me.  You probably won't see age listed under the model's stats.  Because great models can be 30 and hired for a role where they'll play an 18 year old or 35 year old and if you're searching for 18-25 year olds (a common search bracket), you'll miss her, anyway.

And that's fine for agency models, but so very many MM models who follow this practice are not agency models.

I am not so mean! smile

In my opinion, and this is just my opinion, if we want to talk about ethics, it's more acceptable to give an outrageous number than it is to adjust one's age to a number to show up in popular searches.  Unless someone's an idiot, they know a model isn't really 116, but they may well feel lied to if that model advertises they're 25 and later finds out she's 33 -- but this happens in the real world all the time, too.  I know several girls who have been 23 for three years.  It's brilliant marketing, and proves models are hired on their look -- but they do have to show up in the age bracket.

The industry is dishonest; all that matters is the look.

Well, you are 100 years old but based on your look, you're hired.  Now let me save to pay for airfare.
