what would you guys personally label fetish modeling as? what does it personally mean to you? what do you think the definition is? (: latex? bondage? corseting?

I'm sure other models can be of more help, I'm hardly an expert.
i see. o: so i when you check the fetish box under your profile it could be for like say latex or something and doesn't necessarily have to be for feet? it just seems like such a wide space and checking that box is commitment! :p

check it, and maybe clarify in your profile what you do and what you don't do . like I would put something like "as far as fetish goes, I'm only interested in shooting latex" or something like that...

Fetish modeling can be a variety of things. Latex and corseting do fall under that category, but so do pvc, bondage, feet tickling (I don't get that at all), school girls type stuff, etc etc etc.
Fetishism is sexual fixation with objects, body parts, or situations not conventionally viewed as being sexual in nature, so it encompasses a very WIDE range of things.
Normally if it's ticked a photographer will assume that you know what it is, and you know what kind of fetish modeling you're willing to do.
Considering some of your other posts...I'd stay away from the bondage type shoots. You can start of light with corsets and latex if it's something you're really interested in. Just keep in mind, latex is pricey and unless you're working with a WS you'll have to make the investment.
I think the site needs a drop-down list that includes the most popular fetish genres: bondage (maybe subdivided into light/heavy, rope, handcuff), latex, foot, etc. Obviously there are so many types you probably couldn't list them all, but fetish by itself is almost meaningless.

oh yeah, i don't think i would ever do bondage, i would be too chicken. :p

You should be clear in your profile if by checking the fetish box you only mean that you are willing to model fetish wear. If you are not willing to act in fetish videos, you should make that clear.
Fetish is a wide variety of things from stockings to bondage, pretty much anything really. Depends on who is shooting it and their view of what turns them on. Like modeling your feet...which I find really strange, someone's feet might actually turn someone on....weird but it is what it is...I find stockings to be sexy on a woman but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's a fetish at least not for me....lol..to each his own...
Asking for the definition of fetish modeling is one thing.
Asking whether you should check the fetish box is another.
A Fetish Model is someone who caters to the BDSM world. They explore a variety of fetishes and enjoy showcasing them as a model. I.e. a model whose primary genre is fetish, in all its varietals. Tickling, bondage, suspension, whether they are a sub or a bottom, candlewax, etc. When you are heavily versed in the fetish genre, you develop a list of do's and don'ts, things that you are competent at, things for exploration, and no-no's.
To check the 'fetish' box on MM, I say you just need a decent interest. Keep in mind the name of the site, and realize that everything has a bit of 'mayhem'. So just because you check the fetish box, does not have to mean that you are a die-hard fetishist, nor does it mean a mild inkling of an interest. It's anywhere in that range. If you want to show up when a photographer searches for 'models' with 'fetish', then click the box. If not, then don't.

To me it means chips, whips, dips, chains and ROPES ... hope that helps ~)

Balloon popping
Stockings/hosiery
feet (both clean and dirty)
bubblegum smacking/popping
hair-washing
shaving
wrestling
muscle flexing
leg worship
mental domination
wearing puffy coats
restraint (ropes, leather gear)
straitjackets
shibari (artsy fartsy restraint)
latex
encasement
face-sitting (not a sex act; it's literally sitting on someone's head, mashing them)
forced feminization
"little people" eating
squishing small cities with large boots on
spanking and impact play
jeans fetish - they LOVE mom jeans
wet and messy
food play
... it can go on and on forever. There's pretty much a fetish market for anything you can think of, but almost all the markets mentioned above are too small to select one and work in it exclusively. Fetish models will do a wide variety of work. My favorites included: shibari and restraint, wrestling, muscle worship, and feet stuff, but I have done videos of almost everything on the list I made.

Wait! What? That is absolutely NOT what fetish means exclusively by any stretch of the imagination, it certainly includes BDSM but by no means does it cater to that genre exclusively.

etc.... meaning anything can be a fetish and not have something to do with BDSM.
That.
For those of you just now tuning in, bdsm refers to Bondage, Dominance/submission, Sadism, Masochism. None of the above listed have anything to do with bondage, power exchange, sadism or masochism, so they are not bdsm activities, they're just fetish/kink activities.
Bdsm and fetish are not one in the same. Bdsm can be a fetish. Bdsm is a part of kink. Fetishes can be a part of kink.

It's anything nongenital that that someone has a sexual or erotic fixation on.
I wouldn't say non-genital.
People have fetishes for certain types of labia and clitorises, people have ball busting fetishes, etc etc. there's a lot of fetishes that center around the genitals.
Fetish in its dictionary definition is something you HAVE to have to achieve climax. Most people have sort of bastardized it to mean "I really like/have a fixation for/have an obsession over.....but I can still get off without it, if I HAVE to....but I'd rather have it" and it can literally be about ANYTHING

Very true... I mentioned "nongenital" as a fairly standard reference to the sexual organs, my bad. Now that you've mentioned "ball busting" I can see where you're coming from.
I'm off to wipe my watering eyes.

Way to misquote. Geez.
I was putting forth two definitions. If you want to define yourself as a fetish llama, then fetish should be your thing. A glamour llama primarily does glamour, an art llama primarily does art, a fashion llama does fashion, a fetish llama does fetish, which is strongly associated with the bdsm world. If you are a professional fetish llama then chance are, you're interested in the fetish/bdsm world. Yes, there are many specifications and definitions of who falls into what categories. I apologize for using 'bdsm' as a blanket term. I know it's not all encompassing for those of a kinky persuasion. How about we say 'non-vanilla'?
The latter part of my quote referred to whether or not you should click the box for 'fetish' on llama Mayhem. To rephrase: if you're curious or interested in being contacted regarding fetish shoots, then click the box. By no means did I ever intend to state that one should only click the box if they cater to the bdsm world.

Regardless of what you may have meant to say, what you did say is what he responded to, correctly. You not phrasing something correctly is not a misquote on his part. I read what you wrote exactly the way he did.
He quoted one sentence from the beginning of a paragraph, and finished the quote with the end of a latter paragraph, hence a misquote. He combined two ideas that were separated.
I admit, in my original post, the reference to the BDSM world was misplaced. Kink or fetish would have been more apropos terms. (A mistake I acknowledged in my most recent post).

If one shoots fetish, then one is a fetish model, so I don't really understand what it is you're trying to separate between "fetish modeling" and "if you should check the fetish box under what you're willing to model"
They're one in the same. You either do fetish modeling or you don't. You're not "an art model who does fetish", you're an art model when you're doing art modeling and you're a fetish model when you're doing fetish modeling

I was trying to discuss the difference between being A Fetish Model and someone who shoots fetish. Addressing the one question of what defines a fetish model and whether someone should check 'fetish'.
I was not attempting to split hairs or cause a tiff, just address two different points that EmGii brought up. Then I got misquoted and my little English major butt had to defend itself.

Again...what do you think shooting fetish makes you, if not a fetish model? It doesn't make you an art model, or a glamour model, it makes you a fetish model.
If someone asks me what kind of model I am, I say, "Nude, specifically fine art, also glamour, fetish, and a bit of fashion." However, I also do underwater, beauty, bodypaint, and several others. I do not define myself by every genre that I am competent in, and many models do not.

Ding ding ding. Sorry I'm bored at work and this thread made me giggle.
