Much easier to do green screen - but I don't really see the point.
Different if you were doing it for a client, but for "art", it needs to be real.

I have several locations I want to shoot this summer, but they aren't exactly easy to get to! Secluded beaches, waterfalls, mountain tops, etc.
Would you be willing to hike 4 or 5 hours one way to a shoot location? Would you hike to the top of a mountain (like a 10,000ft mountain)? Would you even be willing to hike all day and camp in the backcountry for a night to get the shot?
Here is the catch. It is TF only. You can't say "sure, if the money was right", or submit your $1000 day rate.
TF terms are different for everyone, I understand. TF with me means getting a signed 24" AP print. No money exchanged, this is simply what you are willing to do for the sake of making art
I'm more interested in hearing from the models, but everyone can join in if they want. Epic stories are most welcome!
Assuming that I could afford it, almost anywhere. I'd love to shoot at South Georgia Island (look it up) with the right model.
Realistically, even though I'm pretty poor, two years ago I made a 1700 mile round trip for a trade shoot with a fantastic model, and I've made multiple 400-600 mile round trips for trade shoots. More often, models make 4-6 hour round trips to my place for trade shoots.

Yes, I'd hike 4 or 5 hours to get the shot. I think it is part of the fun and I am kind of hardy. Jen
p.s. would just require a satphone, experienced hikers and assistance with gear...best to be safe and there is safety in in numbers...a fall or accident can be very dangerous and being with someone who is clueless in the bush could be life threatening, for everyone involved-edit to add: I love the idea of camping to shoot in the morning, all fresh!

I've hiked for 2-3 hours for a photo shoot, without leaving my back yard.

I would drive a few hours roundtrip and hike a good distance to get to a great location for the shoot. The nicer the photographer and the more skilled the longer I would be willing to drive and hike.
For me, the only 'it depends' is, it depends if it's possible. If I can do it, by God, I'll do it. One time I was leaning out over a 25 foot cliff shooting straight down at a model who was in the water. I said, "If I fall...." She said, "I swear to God, I'll catch the camera."

3 or 4 years ago I placed a casting call for this image. I specified it was going to be topless. Five models asked to do it. But the one I got stuck on refused to do it topless. I was determined. She was adamant. She didn't want her nipples showing in the photo. She is from Romania and she had that perfect look. So I said, "How can we do this and not show anything? She said, "My hair is long enough to cover them." You gotta be kidding me. The other 4 models were within 2 hours of my home. This model was 1200 miles from my home so I made a vacation out of it and shot her. I'm glad she stuck to her guns. So I went 1200 miles to shoot once... then drove home.
All the images in my portfolio were TF, at the risk of getting arrested and severely hurt. Severe cold, severe heat, massive danger, climbing, hiding in the woods for hours...The list goes on.
