I'm a male photographer who does not know that much about womens' clothing stores in midtown manhattan.  I'm after wild and unusual clothing but so far have only visited Zara and Urban Outfitters.

Hopefully looking for any recommendations near midtown area ... I'm not sure if we will have time to hit downtown ... maybe as far down as Union Sqr.
Thx in advance

You should sign up for Bloomingdale and Macy's discount coupons sales. Forever 21 has decent sales at times. There are also many consignment shops in midtown.

Look for sales and when you add a coupon you can get away with murder. I have purchased Calvin Klein dresses for less that  $30 at Macy's  with combined sales and coupons.

Also try Burlington Coat Factory for sales on Women's clothes (23rd and 6th)

If your just looking for clothing for a particular shoot, Reach out to designers and stylists on MM to help you get the right look.

There are many options.

Good Luck

Are you in the 60's near Lex?
Edit : try H&M's  on Lex and 59th.
Arden B on 3rd Ave and 66th usually has great sales.
Boltons on Third near 72nd

Here is a link to the Upper East Side shoppes

Good luck... have fun....wish I could go for the fun of shopping smile

I don't think you'll find anything wild and unusual at the chain stores you have listed.

Try Trash and Vaudeville, Gothic Renaissance, Vampire Freaks, The Baroness ( latex), etc...

Or even better.... NYC is swarming with amazing indy designers that would probably be happy to do TFP in the right situation or charge you a modest rental fee. Use MM to search for local designers!

H&M has a place in mid-town.  50-something.  Google it.

TONS of great NYC indy designers. Here's a few of the #1310 on this site. Who wants American Apparel or H&M when you could have this? It's like getting fast food when you could have filet mignon. wink

Hi is this Larissa? I've been looking at your site Wild Hunt Corsetry - amazing work. I showed the site to my partner and she agrees. Wish you were in NY, I would love to shoot with you.

Also I wanted to thank you for the links. At some stage I do plan to follow up the leads you are providing me with – and I mean it when I say that. Please keep them coming, I'm hungry to shoot with the designer crowd but waiting till I have my own shooting space. Feel free to contact me off the forums as well if you want to talk. My work is at
