Lens wipes: Antec cleaning wipes?
Are these safe for cleaning lenses (or more realistically UV filters that I always put on a virgin lens to protect the lens)? http://www.amazon.com/Antec-100%25-Natu … ning+wipes Feb 03 13 10:28 am Link Not knowing what's in 'em, I'd have to err on the side of caution and say NO. Photographic lens cleaning requires that NO film of any kind be left behind, lest you ruin the optical qualities of the lens. This one says "natural," (what on earth does that mean in this context?); "no chemical additives," (what does THAT mean in this context); "anti-static," (which really scares the crap out of me -- just what "anti-static" agent is gonna do THAT?). You can't use eyeglasses wipes because they usually leave behind a wax polish, and you can't use "natural" wipes intended for skin because they probably have lanolin. The result is that unless if was specifically made for photographic lenses, and says so on the package in big bold letters, I'd never use it.
