I need to replace my old Mighty Mouse and need recommendations. I tried the Wacom Bamboo pad and do not like it. I like the roller ball for scrolling and tool navigation and I work in Photoshop all day long. Apple Magic mouse or Logitech or ?????
I highly recommend the Wacom Intuos5 Pen & Touch medium. It's brilliant!
Still need to get used to it, cause there are a 1001+ ways to set up functions etc.
Haven't used a tablet before, didn't try the bamboos either, but I want to believe the Intuos will make you happy if you go for a tablet.
Its a track ball. Instead of moving the entire device you simply move the red ball with your thumb. I'm on a computer all day. Found this to be less tiresome on my wrist/hand. It's also more precise for me. Does take some time to get used to though.

no clue. i don't see how it could be, but it's no worse than other mice, and it works on glass, so there's something sophisticated going on in their tracking.
I'd guess that it's better than most mice, worse than a gaming mouse, and way worse than a good tablet, but that still means it's better than most mice.
Also, the omni-directional scroll is a game-changer.

Wacom I5. I don't know how I used to edit before using a proper Wacom tablet. If you must use a mouse, the Magic Mouse is pretty fantastic on both PC and MAC.
People keep suggesting tablets but the OP doesnt like the wacom tablet. This is clearly getting nowhere. I'm going to suggest the OP really try a tablet for 3 days properly i.e. remove the mouse and JUST use the wacom for 3 days. That's the way to get used to it and then you never go back. my kids taught me that trick. you use it for FB and youtube. If after 3 days OP doesn't like tablets we must All PROMISE to never suggest a tablet again. and this promise is binding on 3rd parties. because I say so.

With respect:
Use the tablet AND the mouse.
When it comes to certain functions in photoshop when retouching or just simply editing; nothing beats using a pen. But certain function on your PC and even some in Photoshop are easier done with a mouse.
I have my mouse and my pen set up side by side and I just switch from one to the other. I've been doing it so long now that the 'muscle memory' takes over in certain parts of my work flow and I switch back and forth without thinking about it.

hehe, Yeah my desktop basically looks like a shrine to wacom. I have a large bamboo sitting right in front of a 24in cintiq, but I agree some things are just easier or more intuitive with a mouse. I would never go back to using anything with a cord though.
I only use the bamboo tablet and I have an apple trackpad that I mainly use when browsing the web. I use the tablet for most all my other tasks, it was weird at first but now I love it!
Maybe give yourself more time with it... though it does kind of suck for some things... thus the trackpad too.

I really tried playing Modern Warfare with the tablet... it just didn't work out so good.
A tablet really does take 3 days of NO MOUSE use to convert. It's frustrating the first day, but by the 3rd, you'll wonder why you ever bothered trying to do things without it.
