It'll kill you young and clog your arteries, but it's worth it!

If you cannot afford this, DEMAND someone buy it for you. This is a wonderful book. It isn't a cookbook. It is a "how to cook" book.

For example, it doesn't give recipes for cream soups. It gives 1 recipe and then tells how to make the other ones by varying the ingredients. It ties things together like that. For someone in cooking school, it'll be pleasant, light reading.

My mixer has a whisk. I commonly use it for things that need to be whisked for long periods of time.

Sounds like Chinese torture school.

To think, that of all of the stuff on MM, people are talking of schmaltz. And I'm betting not many people know what it is (without running to Wiki or Google) or have ever tried it.

Of course, EVERYONE agrees on Julia. But look at that book. It's incredible.

Now go back to cutting carrots. How do you cut carrots for French cooking, with 7 sides?

I don't have the lbs to lose, but I owe over 50k to pay off, and I still manage to travel.  GET IT TOGETHER!

God with all this mayo hate, if you could only have to do my dishes for a day. Waking up to open jar of mayo with the knife still all full of it next to it. It bein all over everything when they eat burgers. *shudders*

I like mayo on a sandwich. Maybe in a dip or two where i cant taste it. That's it. But they just slop that crap up. *shuddersagain*

~$400 a month in loan payments, and a minimum wage, full time job with no insurance (along with some other family complications) say that it wouldn't matter how much I had it together, my ass is destined to be broke for the next forever (or you know, five years).
