It's with a sad heart, that I wish to announce the passing of a longtime friend, associate and great glamour photographer J. Steven Hicks.
I first met Steven back in the late 70's when he was our assistant at Playboy where he showed great drive and determination to become a top published photographer. His career went on from there to include shooting for Penthouse, Hustler, Club and Gallery magazines.
He was one of the early pioneer of glamour photography on the internet with his outstandingly successful website DigitalDesire.com
A dedicated family man, an avid surfer, an extremely talented photographer, and an all around nice guy, Steven will surely be missed.
Of all the "centerfold photogs" from the Golden Age of Men's Magazines, Stephen was the youngest, fittest, handsomest, and just as charming and talented if not more so as anyone in the business. Life just isn't fair. You could always tell a "Hicks Shot", long fast lens, great color, composition, and sensuality. His models always looked beautiful and at ease. His work lives on for eternity.
RIP Stephen https://www.facebook.com/stephen.hicks.925
Yes meet him a couple times. He photographed my X~Wife had her eyes on his business card. Seemed odd to look into those eyes again on his site, but he did an amazing job!
He was the guy that made Gallery magazine back in the day.
Stephen was probably most known for dozens and dozens of Penthouse covers, centerfolds and features from the early mid eighties through the 90's, but his work, and that of those that worked for him, to his specifications, were a part of most every men's adult magazine during the 90's and 00's. He syndicated his work world wide and millions of red blooded males everywhere during those years surely enjoyed his beautiful and sexy photos.
He was an all around great photographer, not just a great photographer of women.

Stephen could only have been in his mid 50's, and was known to be a health and fitness fanatic, and lived a pure life. He had recently undergone surgery and was recovering, details of which I am not aware of. He has a beautiful family and it must be a very sad time for them
This is sad news! Ken, I am so sorry for the loss of your friend. I've been an avid collector and fan of vintage Playboy and Penthouse magazines, especially from around the mid 1980's. Steven's work has inspired me greatly (along with your work too.) My condolances to his family and friends. RIP Steven Hicks
