Snow Day!
Are you one of those lucky (or unlucky) people who are snowed in on the East Coast? If so, what are you doing for your Snow Day? Feb 08 13 09:32 am Link I was told not to come in today because of the horrendous snow that we'd surely be getting. There's about a half inch on the ground right now, and that's only as of the past half hour. Haha. Yay for unnecessary snow days!!!!! I'll be spending my day being a complete and total bum. Highlights include: -Walking around the house in pajamas -Spending too much time on MM forums -Petting my cats -Walking around in pajamas some more -Pretending I plan to shovel at some point (if it snows more), but never doing it -Naps. Lots of naps. Feb 08 13 09:55 am Link Kyra Elle wrote: To top it off...maybe make some hot chocolate with some real marshmallows. Feb 08 13 10:01 am Link i took a snow day too, as a sandy survivor i'm so scared of storms now... not much snows but the winds are bad here. Feb 08 13 10:06 am Link I took the day off from work anyways. Not because of the weather - I had a gig planned that didn't pan out, but decided to keep the day off anyways. It's real pretty out there! Feb 08 13 10:11 am Link I'm stuck inside (my favorite park is closed, unable to go out and take pics) and our stupid governor just signed an order banning vehicles on the road after 4pm. Right now, we've got less than 1/8 inch on the ground, with not much else happening. Feb 08 13 10:24 am Link SPierce Photography wrote: From what I saw on the news recently...its COMING! I need something pretty to photograph! Feb 08 13 01:07 pm Link I'm depressed about it, because transit and driving have been shut down all over Massachusetts. Couldn't get to work if I needed to, but what's worse...I work for artists (every Saturday and Sunday), and schools. I may not have income for a week! So, to combat the financial blues, I scoured my cupboards and made...VEGAN CUPCAKES!! I've never made frosting before. It's icing, instead. Not the prettiest, but...OH, so delicious. Feb 08 13 01:33 pm Link We've had no snow here in Seattle this year, and it look unlikely that we will. I call that a damned shame. With drizzly, no-sun days topping out at 40F, I'm thinking I need to spend most of the second half of this month... elsewhere. I'm thinking Hawaii. Feb 08 13 01:34 pm Link There is no such thing as a "snow day" here. Amateurs! Feb 08 13 01:40 pm Link We'll see what happens over night. It flurried this morning until about noon resulting in only a ground covering. Started snowing again about 2pm Overnight we're supposed to get 4-8 inches . I'm not sure what happened to the 600 inches we were supposed to get but the current forecast here is 4-8 inches Feb 08 13 01:44 pm Link DarcieK wrote: We get more "cold days" than snow days. At -15F they start closing schools. Feb 08 13 02:03 pm Link What'd they used to say about NYC, something about when it snows the city makes its own gravy! Feb 08 13 02:04 pm Link Got take a cake pan and fill it with packed snow. Put some maple syrup on the stove and bring it to at least the soft ball stage. Drizzle it on the snow so it cools. Homemade maple syrup candy for the tikes. Feb 08 13 02:05 pm Link ArtisticPhotography wrote: Feb 08 13 02:43 pm Link as a now new yorker via Chicago, the snow isn't the issue; it's the flooding and high tides that come with this storm. as a sandy survivor, Sandy didn't produce actual rain, but because most of new York is an island, when the ocean tides rise they rise a lot and flood everything. they stop transit and shut everything down. i almost went a month without lights, so before you say "it's just " this and that please consider the other elements That can cause a storm. we are still crippled from sandy. my friend that lives in the rockaways just got heat and lights last week. NicoleNudes wrote: Feb 08 13 03:26 pm Link I live on Long Island & it's a mess already. We are expected out here to get about 2 feet of snow. Joyous. I'm from Michigan where it's normal to get several feet of snow a day. This feels normal to me. but this flooding shit, can go away. I live like 5 blocks from the beach. We didn't deal with flooding from Sandy but I have no idea what could happen this time around. Especially since the barriers were destroyed during the hurricane. Feb 08 13 03:44 pm Link well i went to work but they sent me home since it's gonna be a slow crowd. i work in a restaurant. got work tomorrow at 12pm for brunch so thats gonna be interesting. Feb 08 13 04:06 pm Link Making pizza and drinking beer. Hell yea. Feb 08 13 04:22 pm Link Shoveling! Had a shoot canceled due to the weather, so did some of my own pics in the snow. It wasn't as fun as I had planned, but watching my dog frolic in the snow is fun! Feb 08 13 04:28 pm Link points and giggles. Snowing like hell. Small icy things falling from the sky. We're going to get a fair amount of accumulation I hate winter and I hate snow Feb 08 13 07:11 pm Link DarcieK wrote: Gotta say though; Even by Canadian standards, 40 cms is a bit too much . Had to shovel my driveway out thrice now! Feb 08 13 07:40 pm Link Parts of upstate NY & CT already have 3 feet of snow, and the storm isnt over. Looks like NYC got about 8". Feb 09 13 02:55 am Link We weren't hit too badly, with about 14-16 inches. Lots of town around here got 30+ inches. Feb 09 13 05:26 am Link Well, here in Central Pennsylvania, we are below the storm, so it's a clear day, but cold and windy. But I can't be too careful or prepare too much... so it's pizza, beer, writing, and Marx Brothers movies. How's that for a plan? * I do hope everyone in the path of the snow is safe, warm and INSIDE!
