Fair price for nikon cameras
Guys, I'm looking around for a new backup body (currently shooting D3 and D300, replacing the D300 so everything matches up a bit more, and its getting beat to all hell). Right now on the table: another D3, a D700, i'd love a D3s but no way it'll happen price wise i dont think unless i'm missing the deals on those. for a D3 with under 50k on the shutter, battery, and charger, fair asking price? same with a D700 looking around as we speak as well. thanks! Feb 13 13 07:43 pm Link Go to keh.com. Look up the bodies you are interested in. Or go to eBay. In the search bar, type in the model you are looking for, e.g. Nikon D3. When the results come up, look right above the first listing, where it says "xxxx active listings | sold listings | completed listings." Click on "sold listings" and you'll see what has sold recently for what price. Read the descriptions carefully. Some offerings will have more goodies and some less; some bodies will appear almost new and others will have been rode hard and put up wet. But by looking at lots of items that have sold (or not) you can get a good idea of what the cameras sell for in a variety of conditions in the real world. After all, eBay is probably the worlds largest marketplace. Feb 13 13 07:58 pm Link Better yet, get a D600. I don't know why you'd want a used D3 (which will go for about the price of a new D600) over one of the newer cameras, like the D600 or the D800. If I were you, I'd sell both your D3 and D300, and get a D800 as your main and a D7000 as a backup, but that's just me. If you're not trying to spend a lot of money, get a refurbished Nikon. I trust their quality check. Feb 13 13 08:09 pm Link Brandon Rittenhouse wrote: Because neither of those cameras are really at all what I need for work. It seems like another D3 is what you need. The prices I've seen online are about 1700-2100 dollars depending on how "used" you want it. Good luck! Feb 13 13 08:17 pm Link Yeah, I have a D600. It makes magnificent images, but the controls will drive you crazy. I much prefer those of my D300. That said, if you can adapt, you'll be amazed at the image quality of a D600. The D600 body, new at B&H, is about $2000 and the body with 24-85 kit lens is abut $2500. I bought mine with the kit lens and have been very impressed. The D600 is really good if you have the time (measured in seconds) but probably not what you want for fast-moving sports. Feb 13 13 08:21 pm Link thanks guys. In a perfect world i'd like to get anoher D3/D3s and then either a D600/800 but i really cannot afford that. i'm trying to build up the gear in a smart way and as much as i'd like something newer, the D3 does everything i need of it from a work standpoint. The D3's are generally down below $1,500, which makes them just a few hundred dollars more than a D700. The D3 is a much better sports camera. I just need a 100% viewfinder to be happy. Feb 13 13 09:57 pm Link where are you guys seeing D3's for under 1800? Feb 13 13 10:09 pm Link DCS Photography wrote: A friend of mine just sold his for $775 with no battery but it had 150,000 actuations. I see them in the $1,500 range on craigslist all the time. The D3s is about $3,000 Feb 13 13 10:55 pm Link GPS Studio Services wrote: If you see a d3s for around 3k can you let me know? Feb 13 13 11:32 pm Link GPS Studio Services wrote: Woah, damn good deal. I'd have been all over that if it were local lol. Just check CL here and the cheapest was 1600 with everything else around 2500+ Feb 13 13 11:48 pm Link I guess yall don't check Ebay? A regular D3 can be found for 1500 and up... (lots of clicks) I just got a D700 with 20k click in near mint condition and most of the stuff in the OEM box has been unopened. I wanted to get the D3 but for low clicks the D700 was a better choice for me Feb 14 13 12:50 am Link |
