Go out on the porch and fire off of couple of shots with a shotgun. That'll keep the bad guys away.
Joe, be serious. First of all, in your neighborhood that'd drive the Secret Service crazy. I don't think those boys would find it funny if you started shooting rounds over their heads.
Second, don't EVER shoot if you don't know what you're shooting at. Shooting a couple of rounds off, without having a target in mind, is just plain crazy.
Otherwise, Joe, keep up the good work. You're adorable.
Because the guy he shot was a wealthy land baron and corporate attorney. Republicans fellate guys like that, not shoot them.
Yeah, but once they hand over their money, they just get in the way when you're doing something important like shooting ducks. Besides, Cheney hadn't killed anyone lately and was a bit out of practice.

So Democrats fellate wealthy donors who happen to own ski areas in Colorado which give exclusive privileges to spouses of Chiefs of the Executive branch too, right?

But they don't shoot them.
Stay on topic, Skippy. This is about shooting irresponsibly.
I think Obama and Biden are playing "good cop/bad cop" with Obama being "we want to restrict guns" and Biden being "shoot the bastards". It's pretty funny.
He's not necessarily wrong, it's just funny to hear him say it.

Remember, 15 or 20 years ago, Jerry Solomon (R, NY) who said something about his wife needed an assault rifle to defend herself when he wasn't home. Of course he lived in a nice suburban neighborhood but it sounded good. However, it made more sense when someone like Solomon said something like that because (a) he was Republican, (b) he was an ex-Marine and (c) he was insane.
Ironically, he's suggestion that you shoot off a few rounds to scare people away, which means shooting at something/someone/some direction where you don't know what's going on.
Meanwhile in South Africa, that guys in trouble for supposedly shooting shooting a target he hadn't clearly identified. He did just what Biden suggested.

Yeah, and dems never do....way to redirect.
Biden is a wonderful exhibit of how the left thinks they know more than they do.
Regardless of your politics, the current VP of the US just told 300 million Americans it was a GOOD idea to go outside and shoot "in the air". An act that in a LOT of the country is a CRIME, not too mention a stupid ass idea. It is a violation of basic firearms safety rules (that most 12 year old Boy-scouts could tell you).
This is why libs don't like guns....they are afraid their guys will get guns?....

If I have the typical limited-round shotgun, why would I waste any rounds as warning shots? The threat may be too drugged up to care. Give me the high-capacity and I'll try a warning shot if I've got time. Get the brain in gear and think, Joe, think!

I wonder if your neighbors would be comfortable with you shooting your high-capacity weapon towards their homes... and them?
Do they trust you can hit your intended target with every round?
" A 2003 study by the Police Policy Studies Council reports that shots fired by police officers that hit the intended perpetrator range from as low as 25 percent to approximately 50 percent. The article cites Baltimore County Police as being one of the "best trained police departments" with regards to firearm use. This study reports that this best trained Baltimore County Police Department's overall gunshots fired-to-hit ratio was 49 percent. In daylight conditions, the ratio was 64 percent and that dropped to 45 percent in low light conditions.
Additionally, the study reports when more than one officer is involved, called bunch shootings, not only are more police gunshots fired, but the gunshot-to-hit ratio is even lower. The number of shots fired increases at a range of 45 percent to 118 percent. The range of gunshots fired-to-hits ratio when one officer was involved was 51 percent, when two officers involved the hit ratio dropped to 23 percent and more than two officers were involved the hit ratio dropped to 9 percent. Additionally, the study reports that semi-automatic weapons had lower gunshots fired-to-hit ratio.
The study also reports that an estimated 70 percent of police shootings are what are called "point-shootings." Point shooting is where the shooter does not aim with the gun sights but, merely points the gun in the direction of the target. Upward of 70 percent of police shootings are reported to be point-shootings. Additionally, most "targets" are not standing still and may be firing back at the shooter so the shooter may also be moving, all factors that reduce the shots fired-to-hit ratio.
In addition, the study reports that the data of various studies regarding the target range scores to actual hits in real life live fire incidents is inconclusive. However, the indicators are that proficiency of range shooting has no correlation to proficiency in real life live fire incidents. Furthermore, the study reports various data and findings anywhere from 18 percent to 43 percent were "mistake of fact shootings." This means that the officer or officers erroneously interpreted the facts and misjudged that they were in imminent danger and needed to use deadly force.
While I was not able to find any data or findings regarding innocent bystanders being shot, I note that the nine innocent people wounded last August near the Empire State Building were hit by police gunfire.
From this report, I conclude that allowing citizens to have high capacity ammunition magazines is absurd."

I'm certainly not going to pull a Joe Biden and step out onto full view of the balcony to do it. I'm going to be concealing myself in the house. Since I'm not limited to a hunting rifle for self defense, my rounds are unlikely to penetrate my concrete block walls. My rounds are self-defense rounds, intended to have the energy fully absorbed within the bad guy. Yes, I'm a decent shot, with or without the laser sights, and my laser sights make it a point-and-click operation.
If you had been in the Aurora theater, would your prime concern have been for the aim of a good guy in the dark?

A couple of warning shots with a double-barrel shotgun yet. Doesn't that leave you empty? I guess Washington folks can handle deficits better than I can.
That's a Thompson Submachine Gun. Not an assault rifle.
It's an assault rifle, at least by NY definition. It has a detachable clip and a pistol grip. You might also consider the recoil reducer to be a flash suppressor.
