Hi there,
since for Europe Einstein Strobes are double the price. Before I make an order for the Flash, I need to know if I can get a 22'' Beauty Dish that fits it and is not so expensive. Any suggestions?

Thank you!

The standard alien bee one fits ($80).  I've seen alien bee speedrings for mola demi dishes (~$280 IIRC) too.

Ditto, but those might not be available in Greece.
Mola Demi is probably the best choice there....you'll be disappointed in the PCB dish when you get it in your hands...

You can buy the Mola and have to get the speeding ( I have that ) can get expensive but nothing beats that beauty dish (I own that... I own the buff, and the profoto one). I now take my profoto one on location because it is smaller and lighter, keep the mola in the studio and never use the paul buff one.

theres a 27" beauty dish on ebay... it works fine and won't break the bank
don't believe all the hype on Molas
People pump it up bigger than what they are... if Mola didn't make the Setti then people would say it was a terrible BD because of shape. If Mola made the Speedotron dish also then people would be fine with it.

There is a Korean company that makes a dish that is very simular to the Setti but people put it down too as being a bad Setti wanna be.

To this day no one can see a picture and know what beauty dish it was taken with be the results

A European brand that was very popular was Balcar and that is the mount that is used by Einstein.

You should be able to find used Balcar beauty dishes in EU.

They were French and Swiss.

(Chicken and egg problem - Paul Buff choose the Balcar mount for his White Lightning line (now Alienbees and Einstein)

At one time, many strobe brands used this mount but they seem to have gone out of business as has Balcar)

As others have already said. The 22 inch Mola Demi beauty dish can be bought with the speed ring to fit your flash heads. But my apologies it is expensive sad

Also, In case I get the one from PCB can I mount a different brand grid on it?

hmm I saw this one, but it comes in silver and it is for Balcar lights. Does this mean it will fit the einsteins?

Yes, but they told me Balcar has closed. I can't find a homepage, or someone that sends in Europe.

You just need the one i linked from Ebay which can also be found on Amazon. It comes with the correct adapter. Read the tips listed on that ebay page it can fit variety of lights with correct adapter that they sell.

No need to purchase one as it is included - Click on where it says included -
1x walimex Beauty Dish universal connection, 56cm
    1x Adapter for Balcar

Balcar fits Einstein from what i have read on several websites so it fits smile.

Calumet sells a 22" B.D. for $100 and also sells a speed ring for Einstein. That's what I'm using. Comes with a sock and you can buy a grid.

I made 2 of my own.

1 white
1 silver.

They're stellar. Total investment in both dishes (including socks) about $75.00 and a whole lot of fun making them.

Calumet for the price is pretty good. It is silver though. but the grids are affordable too. My 22 inch has cost me close to $1000 now. you get the Beauty dish for $300, Profoto Ring for $200, 2 grids for $350, case for $300.

But it produces amazing light.
