Hi Nate!
The International Center for Photography has always an excellent exhibition, it's on 6th Avenue and 43rd street... http://www.icp.org/museum
The Metropolitan Museum of Art had an big exhibition that ended last months about photo manipulation before photoshop and does have a new exhibition about the history of fashion, IIRC...
There are many more galleries... but I am sure that others will come in and contribute a ton of galleries that I don't even know about.

None that I'm aware of will always showcase the specific subject matter you seek. But a few of the better bets:
Howard Greenberg
Edwynn Houk
Staley Wise
Yancey Richardson
Pace MacGill
Robin Rice
Robert Mann
There are the big ones, but you can always catch a Nan Goldin, Gursky, Sugimoto, or another 'current' big name if you wander around the Chelsea district. You probably won't see any Strands or Steichens, but there will be plenty of that at MoMa.

Or as I like to call it, my happy place. Years ago an ex-girlfriend used to work right above it at a tech start-up. Every time I went to see her I picked up two books at great prices.

Funny how that works. I used to drive two hours each way to hang out at a camera club. That dropped off pretty quickly when I stopped dating the girl that lived a block away.
