Hi all,
I am an Australian based fashion/editorial/beauty photographer that will be visiting/touring NYC later this May. I'd love to setup some model test shoots while in town. I noticed most agencies do not have a contact email. I wanted to ask what is the best approach ?
1. cold call when I am there ( no lead time to setup shoots )
2. place advert somewhere ( apart from MM, any suggestions )
3. would you recommend any models that have modeling exp that would be interested.

Define "lead time'. For America in advertising and fashion, one or two days can be the normal advance booking time, but a few days is usually OK. They may have a better chance to get a model lined up with 3-5 days warning depending on the model.
The best bet is a phone call. They field those kind of calls all the time. They will then ask to look at your work and tell you if they are interested. Depending on their interest, you may only get a new face on the first test. After seeing the results, that may change.
also a lot of the agencies have specific open times during the day for an hour or two here and there where they accept walk in consultations. It wouldn't give you much lead time, but if you are spending any substantial amount of time in the city it is worth a shot.

Phone call with an email follow-up linking to your best fashion work. Request a package for a specific date. Be as specific as possible - who your team is, what the concept is, mood board helps tremendously.
