Please close thread sincerely thought i was ready for the critiquing and realizing im not NOT INTERESTED in any further crituque, PLEASE lock thread Mar 25 13 02:09 pm Link Briefly: 1) You have too man photos in your portfolio. Never throw in mediocre pictures with your best ones, it pulls it down. You'll be remembered MORE for your weakest photo than for your best. 2) You don't need more than you already have to go see an agency. They want to see your potential, not your beautiful photos. Mar 25 13 02:51 pm Link I think that it'd be silly to have any less in my Mm port bc I have 200 spots, I wouldn't ever take ALL my MM photos to an agency Mar 25 13 03:08 pm Link Leigh12 wrote: He was kinda right. Mar 25 13 04:18 pm Link That's something i hadn't noticed! Thank you!! That is extremely helpful! Mar 25 13 04:35 pm Link Leigh12 wrote: I'm not sure I would have guested you were a commercial model by your images. Mar 25 13 04:51 pm Link That's my main problem right now is I have a ton of high fashion looking pieces so I'm trying to get more commercial looks Mar 25 13 04:55 pm Link I dont see an agency in your future but if you are going to pursue it then go completely life style as you dont show diversity "trying" to do fashion but just that you are not the right body type or look for it. How close are you to DC? You need to be near a market to have any chance. Take a look at www.bellaagency.com a very good NYC commercial print agency to see what type of photos you should strive for. But even with them it most likely will just be an occasional paid job- 2-3 a year. I don't like a single photo in your port- sorry but got to call it like I see it. You need photos in natural light with out shadows and smiling and doing stuff. NO posing. Mar 25 13 08:24 pm Link Mark wrote: People like you are the exact reason I model. Because anyone can tear you down but it takes a true genuine type of person to build you up. Regardless of what any snooty, know-it all photographer in NYC think I can't do, I am assured everyday because of self determination and willingness to work hard that I can do anything I want and be extremely successful at it. I thank you for your critique but remind you that you don't know everything, especially the true strength of someones dreams and heartfelt work. Mar 25 13 09:01 pm Link Agree. You have a lot of mediocre shots dragging down the decent shots. As mentioned above, quality is ALWAYS better than quantity. The posts above are not trying to discourage you, tear you down or be harsh in any way. They're all true and factual. If you come here and ask for advice don't be upset when you're told the truth. You're 5'6" which immediately exempts you from almost any agency. You don't shoot nudes which exempts you from ever working with a very large number of photographers. You don't seem to have anything amazingly different, fresh or unique to offer, so again, the likelihood of ever getting signed is about 0%. That's just the way it is. It's reality that you're not ready for, not the critiquing. Mar 26 13 05:05 pm Link Stay positive and keep trying. You are young and have time to get lots of experience. Mar 26 13 05:15 pm Link LOL . Didnt get the praise from me you wanted? Yes, you will have to direct your anger generated from my honest response and direct it towards your port. Guess you dont need me to tell you that, as you wrote me already saying its people like me that make you model. Sorry but I have developed my eye from dealing with the NYC market and Europe and not out of the way little towns but major fashion capitals. And to reply to your criticism of me just being a photographer and not knowing about modeling- I modeled for Ford NYC and Wilhelmina NYC and Major Milan, Louisa Germany, Karin Paris FYI but truthfully dont see why you went ballistic on me. Mar 26 13 08:51 pm Link It's a pretty big aspiration to want to make enough money from llamaing that you'll be able to quit 2 of your jobs. Honesty, the only way that's going to happen is to drop the "no exceptions escort" policy, and probably do nudes. You might make a little money here and there (even I've been paid a couple times) but to take it from a HOBBY to a JOB, you've got to be willing to be more professional (do your research and get references instead of bringing an escort), and shoot what people are willing to pay for. Mar 27 13 10:11 pm Link Oh you require a chaperon, uhh I mean escort too? I didn't even see that one. Mar 28 13 03:22 am Link Hi, You seems to have potential. Some advice 1) As already said above, be extremely selective with your pictures. 5 excellent images are better that 20 good ones. Remember "good" is the enemy of "excellent". 2) Ask some experience photographers for TFCD shootings to boost your portfolio. This is the way many successful models started 3) A smaller point. You don't have to mention so prominent that you always come with an llama herder. Serious photographers never have a problem with this, if you mention this when arranging the shooting. I shoot nudes and have often models coming with a friend or boy-friend. Good luck Mar 28 13 05:32 am Link if any of you had actually read the top post you would see I am NO LONGER INTERESTED in any critiques and I asked for this post to be locked or deleted. I appreciate everyone's effort but I really am not interested in anyone's opinion. have lovely day.
