I found this quote quite interesting from Anne Hathaway:

"We had finished shooting all the nudity," she explains about her current film. "And my wonderful director said, 'You know what guys, you've been through a lot together, and before you put your clothes on'... - he goes, 'I was wondering if I could strip down and get into bed with you and we will all take a picture together," Anne told an Australian radio program. "And then Ed said, 'Don't worry these are just for my personal abuse and no one's ever going to see them' and like young fools we believed him."

That's actually the photo that was used to advertise ""Love."

Interestingly, big time Hollywood directors aren't held to the same scrutiny as we hold ourselves to. Seems she's able to laugh it off.

Why is that?

I find it kind of amazing that Anne Hathaway would present herself as young and naive.  I mean, 10-15 years ago, sure.  But she's a big time Hollywood star, and has been for a while.

When was the movie produced? I'm not seeing it in IMDB's database, nor in Anne Hathaway's filmography?

Edit: Nevermind, they're referring to the film, "Love & Other Drugs".

A little off topic, but still the luckiest bastard in big screen history.

I can't help noticing that, at least when it comes to the actresses, that's an unusual definition of "nude."

Hollywood, I can tell you stories.  If we did what they did, it would make MM seem like Sesame street.  The more I worked there the more it just amazed me.

That's what I've also heard from a lot of people in the know.

Some of the stories my film professor used to tell us would leave us in awe, disgust, revultion, & admiring the chutzpah all at the same time.

OK, but just one.  I hate gossip.  My old writing partner was a guy by the name of "Reg Farmer."  You won't recognize him as a writer because he used various pen names.  For those of you who are old enough to remember, he was the principal in "Fast Time at Ridgemont High."  Reg and I used to chuckle about this.

So they were shooting a scene on the streets in downtown LA.  Reg is chatting with the executive producer outside, in front of the hotel where they were working when two young girls come up asking to be in the movie.  Of course, both girls wanted to be stars some day.

The guy blows Reggie away and takes the girls upstairs to his room.  They are in break anyhow for setup for a new scene.  He comes back down in about a half hour with the girls in tow and calls for the second assistant director. When he arrives the producer proudly proclaims "Give these girls a part."  The girls are thrilled, but of course, they have no idea what a second assistant director does.

The second assistant director (whose job it is to manage and direct the background players), takes the girls over and puts them into the crowd for the upcoming scene.  The executive producer walks by a few minutes later and the girls are furious.  That wasn't what they expected.  He looks them in the eye and tells them, in a serious tone, "I will take care of this."  He summons the second assistant director, and in a stern voice tells him, That isn't what I meant ... move them to the front of the crowd."

True story.  I won't name the producer for obvious reason.  Reg and I used to muse about it for years.  It has always been a great party story, but of course there, I could name names.

"But her recent experience with nudity has taught her to be weary of the director."

interesting choice of words. weary, not wary.

i wonder if the director knew all along he wanted that shot for the poster and thought that tricking them was the only way to get it? the end justifies the means sort of thing.

lately we've had models wanting to do the trophy shots of themselves semi-naked with the photographer. the wife and i co-shoot so i let her be the one in those images that the models put up on instagram.

I think this is the photo:

http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1047036160/ … f_=tt_ov_i

I think when she meant they believed him she mean that they believed he was serious and he wasn't. It's a reaction shot.

She's able to laugh it off because the shot doesn't show any nudity. If it did I doubt it would be the same story.

I can't really speak for film, particularly on the west coast, having been primarily a stage actor, but way back when I was young I worked a lot of touring rep.  Most of the "action" was initiated by the towners.  The actors and techs were generally just too damned tired to go outside our own circle.

You have models insisting on posing nude with the photographer?  Um, yeah.

I've done 200 nude shoots, more or less, and such an idea has never come up.  Ever.  Well, other than laughing about what silly things some photographers try to do.

I've had a couple ask for this, actually - but they weren't even "MM models," they were 100% amateurs who had posed for a set for "babe of the week" on a radio station's morning show's web site that I shot for. Part of the draw for me was that I'd shoot 4-5 of them a week, and after looking through my portfolio and framed shots on the wall, at least a couple of them would inquire about my other projects.

Once or twice one would want a shot with me to show her girlfriends that she had the balls to model for a nude project.

Go figure.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High -  I love that move!  That's what high school was really like for me in many ways back during the late 70's early 80's.  (Yeah, I've hit the big 50 recently!)  It's amazing I survived!  smile

Being in the music business, I've got similar true stories to tell.  Many a "wanna be artists" who have been taken into hotel rooms by various road managers.

I've had plenty of models want to take a photo of themselves naked with me. I've even had some come running and jump into my arms and wrap their legs around me while they were totally nude. I've also had a handful sit in my lap nude while reviewing photos. All on their own accord.

But then, I'm incredibly good looking so I don't blame them.

Because he's a big time Hollywood director and we, for the most part, are not.

I've taken nude "trophy" photos with photographers before.  Sometimes it's my idea, sometimes it's their idea.  If I trust them (and they trust me) I don't really see the harm. They're usually just silly images that document what a good time we had.

From the 1984 movie Splash:

Allen(Tom Hanks): "Well now, what about that, huh? What about a woman showing up naked in a public place, Freddie?"

Freddie(John Candy): "Well I'm for it, of course."

With respect to the title of this thread, I'm pretty much with 'Freddie'.

why you ask

because women are continuously objectified and still have to put up with sexist bigotry, abuse, and harassment, or they are considered bitchy or cunty and they stop getting work.

nothing about this story or any of the other stories are "cool" or "awesome" or "bravado" its sexual harassment.

sorry im not sorry

(and dont take it as anything against you john( or anyone else), im just saying, its never not creepy, its always shitty and should stop. just because the environment helps re-enforce the behavior doesnt make it ok)

I'd really love to see or hear the interview.
I'd bet the whole thing would sound a lot less sinister than that shitty caption on Fox News makes it out to be. Remember, these people had probably been working 14 hour days together for months at that point. I'm sure they had quite the chemistry at that point.
