I have been thinking about changing my logo and would appreciate your thoughts.




Here's the old one.

What are your thoughts?

A) the old one was better
B) the new one is better
C) I am confused.  Are you in the puzzle business?
D) I like something else in your portfolio much better.
E) I hate multiple choice tests.  I will write a novel in the margins.

C. If you really want the puzzle concept, take out the hand and use another way to get the idea across. THEN you'll really sell some puzzles. wink

I may be reaching but, like others, I'm trying to figure out the association with photography. Perhaps the "puzzle" concept is that YOU are the missing piece of the client's project. Something to do with being the right fit? Solving their puzzle?

With that said, neither are effective imo. The hand definitely needs to go because it is both unnecessary to the concept and it's distracting. Neither of which you want in a logo.

If your intent on using the puzzle piece as the core of the design it should be a very subtle instance of where the image portrays only a piece "being fit" into the slot...to let the viewer finish the "fit" on their own.

A lot more abstract than the current version. You want the visual recognition but you don't want to beat the viewer over the head with the story.

Edit: I'd also recommend if you're keeping the puzzle concept, that you include a sub-header that ties it in...

From a marketing standpoint, you always want at least two colors in a logo to convey feelings to a consumer.  Black and white logos don't convey feelings.  Different colors work for different messages.
