1. I'm aware of a prominent forum poster who has something similar on her page, and I don't see the problem with it. There are literally thousands of ways to portray women without objectifying them. Is that really SO ridiculous to consider? hmm

This was posted on a modelling website...where you rent your bodies by the hour for us to take attractive photos of you based on how you look. I'm pretty sure there's some objectification going on there, unless one is swimming up the river of da Nile.

I don't think you know what objectification means. Also, it's lovely to know that you consider hiring models renting their bodies for the hour.

I hire models for their minds.

I just like the idea that boobs come with the deal.

2. So she wants pregnancy shots? Lots of photographers on here have maternity projects and want pregnancy models.

In my opinion y'all aren't finding very good examples. The ones I think are ridiculous are:
-Has 4 cell phone shots in portfolio
-Has never had a shoot before
-Doesn't shoot nude/implied/lingerie
-5'1"
-130 lbs
-Otherwise unremarkable face/body
-Has an escort that they insist on "for personal safety"
-Profile's typed all in caps
-Demands rates Heidi Klum would blush at
-Says to text them for more info
-It's all "in dis tipe speach"
^^All the above in one profile.

To make a blanket statement, this thread currently seems like a giant mechanism to complain that every profile viewed isn't one that fits each person's tailored definition of what they want. It's like looking at profile of a model with tattoos and complaining that she lists her tattoos on her profile. Move on to the next one. I can promise you, if you can't cope with the "not objectifying women" bullet point, that model doesn't want to shoot with YOU either.

If photographers were literally just hiring the physical bodies of models, my job would be a zillion times easier. Unfortunately I have to use my brain to operate my body so that it forms into poses, my face moves into pretty expressions, and so that I can shower before I show up.

My favorite profiles are the ones in first person plural ("we do this" "our style is this") but are actually one person. Never got the concept behind that.

Always makes me want to ask "Is that the royal 'we', the editorial 'we', or the 'we' of people with tapeworms?"

lol Whatever works for ya... when I did porn work, I was a "website content creator"... says the resume. But reality is what it is.  I'm sure your mind is great, but sadly it does no good if you don't show up physically... wink Otherwise, your  modelling career is just an idea.

"My escort is a tapeworm, and if you get touchy-feely he'll shoot out and strangle you."

I can't see the problem here re warning people on a profile about availability.

Just because one is a model does not mean one must be at the beck and call of everyone who wants to hire them. Least of all the beck and call of those who do not provide regular or well paid work.

I spoke to three promotional models yesterday at the races on £100 to £150 each for a few hours work. According to some here; that isn't 'real' modelling. However it is real money. And this is the real marketplace that models are sometimes in. Likewise when I was doing fit modelling I would have to put fit jobs over photography jobs because that is far paid better and more regular than working for an individual photographer on a couple of hours work which may cost you a week's pay elsewhere. Likewise with working for LEA's and Art Institutions and individual artists giving me five hours a week for ten weeks etc. Some models are with agencies and therefore the agency work comes first in line.

We know your projects are important to you and sometimes they are important to us hence tf works. But that is only sometimes.

But generally models have a variety of employers and if they are modelling part time because they are mums or have other paying jobs then they aren't always going to be at your beck and call. So putting that on their profiles warns you of it. If you think they are important to your project as individuals with skills and a look you value then you are aware you may have to work round them. If you are not prepared to do that then if that is on their profiles you can skip to another. Nothing lost - in fact you have gained for example knowing that the model can't shoot past 3.00pm because she has to do the school run.

In my case I warn:
PLEASE NOTE: I will be sometimes unavailable for modelling work as I am also on times away on scientific research in the arctic etc. So please be aware I am now only modelling part time. So please bear this in mind and check my availability

That hasn't stopped those photographers wanting to work with me doing so but they know I am not available at the drop of a hat. Sometimes photographers will need a model that doesn't have other commitments. You actually won't find many. So it is better to have the information of why on the model profile.
