I'm pretty sure there's some objectification going on there, unless one is swimming up the river of da Nile. May 01 13 08:04 pm Link I hire models for their minds. I just like the idea that boobs come with the deal. Unfortunately I have to use my brain to operate my body so that it forms into poses, my face moves into pretty expressions, and so that I can shower before I show up. I'm sure your mind is great, but sadly it does no good if you don't show up physically... Otherwise, your modelling career is just an idea. Just because one is a model does not mean one must be at the beck and call of everyone who wants to hire them. Least of all the beck and call of those who do not provide regular or well paid work. I spoke to three promotional models yesterday at the races on £100 to £150 each for a few hours work. According to some here; that isn't 'real' modelling. However it is real money. And this is the real marketplace that models are sometimes in. Likewise when I was doing fit modelling I would have to put fit jobs over photography jobs because that is far paid better and more regular than working for an individual photographer on a couple of hours work which may cost you a week's pay elsewhere. Likewise with working for LEA's and Art Institutions and individual artists giving me five hours a week for ten weeks etc. Some models are with agencies and therefore the agency work comes first in line. We know your projects are important to you and sometimes they are important to us hence tf works. But that is only sometimes. But generally models have a variety of employers and if they are modelling part time because they are mums or have other paying jobs then they aren't always going to be at your beck and call. So putting that on their profiles warns you of it. If you think they are important to your project as individuals with skills and a look you value then you are aware you may have to work round them. If you are not prepared to do that then if that is on their profiles you can skip to another. Nothing lost - in fact you have gained for example knowing that the model can't shoot past 3.00pm because she has to do the school run. In my case I warn: PLEASE NOTE: I will be sometimes unavailable for modelling work as I am also on times away on scientific research in the arctic etc. So please be aware I am now only modelling part time. So please bear this in mind and check my availability That hasn't stopped those photographers wanting to work with me doing so but they know I am not available at the drop of a hat. Sometimes photographers will need a model that doesn't have other commitments. You actually won't find many. So it is better to have the information of why on the model profile.
