It's that time again, after a successful workshop earlier this year (several students now shooting for agencies, congrats guys!) I've decided to begin planning another 2 workshops based on the input from students for the end of June and July (see details at bottom for 2nd W/S and package deal) at two of my favorite locations that I think every photographer should have the joy of shooting at, first up: the beach
Some general info:
There'll be a small photographer:model ratio, ie. this is not a gang-bang/group shoot. Smaller more intimate groups=more meaningful and better photos. Class size will be limited to 8.
There will be a pro makeup artist I've used several times before on my shoots there to do makeup as well. Makeup is a very important aspect to shooting this type of imagery and we'll go over what is generally acceptable and what isn't.
We will also have wardrobe from a stylist available.
Topics we'll cover:
How to shoot editorial fashion on the beach, without the photos looking glamour (ie. Maxim magazine).
Shooting in Natural Light, without the use of artificial lighting to aide you. We'll focus on using the environment, and at most a reflector to get dramatic and powerful images on the beach.
"How do you direct the models to do what you get them to do?" I'll explain my approach to how to get the most out of your model, how to maintain a balance of getting that free/non-posed look, and still maintain control of the direction the shoot is going.
Learn how to shoot usable images that will benefit you and your book.
Most importantly you'll learn how I approach telling a story with a series of photos.
Date: June 29th
Methods of Payment:
Paypal payment made to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Deadline for registration: June 23
Full refund if cancelled more than 2 weeks notice
Half refund if cancelled with more than 1 weeks notice, but less than 2 weeks
No refund if cancelled within 1 week of date
Time: This will be dependent upon the tide schedule. Tentatively looking like noon-5pm, with an hour ahead of time to meet at the studio before we head out as a group.
Models: Will be booked close to shoot date so we know how many we need. If genuinely curious just look at my website or blog for examples of the types of models I shoot (hint: models are always girls I've worked with before so that I can vouch for their professionalism and ability)
I can assure you they will be actual major-agency signed models though...no faux-fashion models everyone and their momma has shot on MM at this one
What you need to bring: Camera and lenses, collapsible reflector, and a desire for good images and a good time
Also, there will be a Desert oriented shoot in July. Agency models and styled as well. Sign up for both and get $100 discount! Details to follow shortly.
