I'm new here and I've been doing some retouches for practice, but with the way i knew using surface blur and high pass (it looks terrible lol but was the only way i knew how to retouch the skin). So i just discovered that with the dodge and burn technique you can make the skin clear without losing the texture! this is fantastic and i'm so happy i'm learning how to do it big_smile

so, this is my first beauty (or editorial? lol) retouch using dodge and burn, what you guys think? comments and critique are welcome!

Great job there with the D&B technique, the skin tone looks great. My only issue with the image is that the left side of her face looks more protruded than the right side which makes her face kind of deformed. If you could warp/liquify it to match the right side, it would be much more flattering. But overall you've done a great job

Just my £0.02.

Nice attempt.. I like the colour/tone you've used but I think you have got rid of some facial features and it looks a bit robotic/plastic for my taste.. also the lips I would put back the originals as it looks wrong..

The hair is throwing me off. It's lost a lot of its natural beauty. I can't quite put my finger on it, other than to say that I'd prefer it still be black.

I agree with this, the hair is really saturated. Also liked it better with the dark gray background, she gets swallowed up when it's pure black. You did a fine job with the skin.
