Studio Workshop - Working with Artificial and Natural light

Have been getting a lot of request to do one of these, so here goes.  Covering everything from basics to advanced smile

This workshop will mainly focus on being creative in a “studio.”

Many times as a photographer we run into creative barriers when given limited amounts of resources to work with.  In a studio environment where most of us have a back drop or a white wall to work with; creative steam can run dry pretty quick.

This workshop I’ll address the question, “how to be creative” in a studio environment.

I’ve discovered through the years by adding simple props, backdrops, or just change the shooting style and adopting a light setup that is totally unorthodox can give you new inspirations on how you shoot.

Another big topic will be using available light in the studio and how to control it.

The topics I'm covering are:

Lighting - Both Strobe/ Natural

I’ll be covering both using strobes - both studio lights and on camera flash.  Along with that will be the topic of using natural light in the studio and how to control it.  Controlling natural light you can easily turn something boring to something creative.

There will be outdoor session as well, both on the roof and on the streets, I’ll cover working with mid day, to softer late afternoon light.

Working with models - Studio sessions usually require a great deal of direction to capture dynamic movements.  Not like outdoors where you can just have them walk and circle the model looking for creative lighting/ angle.  This is pretty key to capture natural/ raw type expressions/ movements.

Understanding fundamentals of dynamic vs static - Most of the time I feel people don’t understand or just assume a dynamic photo is “hair whipping, with O Face.”  For me dynamics “expressions” are not, “expressions.”  There will be no hair whipping, O face, or angry looking type expression at all, strictly prohibited LOL.

Cost 400$

Reservation deposit of $200 required made via paypal.

There will be 3 models. Photographers cap at 12.

Times will be from 12-7.
