Advice needed! To any one running or reading beauty blogs.... I used to blog on word press. I am setting up a new beauty blog. Looking at top blogs they all seem to be on blogger but I always thought Wordpress was better as you could create a better website, tag etc. Also I wonder if bloggers community might be saturated, any feedback much appreciated Xxxxxx Sep 13 13 01:00 pm Link Pleeeez Sep 13 13 01:13 pm Link Our SEO consultant tells me WordPress is better. She further says that for SEO purposes the ideal hosting would be www.YourBusinessURL.com/blog Sep 13 13 03:24 pm Link Toto Photo wrote: Thanks Toto I will check out the site, I thought Wordpress was better like that just wasn't sure if there was more of a health and beauty community on blogger but I'm under the impression even if there is its kind of saturated now. Any one on here that would agree/disagree that Wordpress is a better blogging site? Sep 13 13 04:38 pm Link I want a blog, I thought that too but when I looked into big beauty blogs a vast majority seem to be on blogger so I'm trying to work out why and ultimately who to go with; Wordpress for all the reasons expressed above or blogger because for some reason it seems a very popular choice with big beauty blogs...... I don't understand your concerns about "saturated" as most of the traffic to a blog has no idea what platform you are using. Sep 13 13 05:09 pm Link Wordpress is just as easy to use and much better. I just dealth with blogger again and got so damn frustrated...back to WP for all my blogs you can do quick posts too (just an image, etc.). Sep 13 13 06:13 pm Link a lot of people that are into Google + use Blogger from my understanding - isn't it run/owned by Google? that may be a future consideration. Sep 13 13 07:18 pm Link Blogger is easy and free. You can also get your own domain name for it for like $10/year, to do the same with wordpress you need to use some hosting company; there can be issues with that, like choosing the best one, costs, availability, etc. Issues on google are far less likely, so if you want a cheap effective blog it's a great choice. If you want to build an online presence then a self hosted solution is more important, one with total control so you can keep up with changes, trends, and control your own online persona. Wordpress is a good backed for this, but there are also others. So I think your real question is how far are you going to go with this? Sep 13 13 07:39 pm Link I'm on Wordpress Themakeupman.wordpress.com I like it cause I'm low tec. Even I can work it lol Sep 16 13 06:19 pm Link I have a ton of experience with both. I personally prefer Wordpress because it allows for more creative freedom. Below are some pros and cons to each . Wordpress Pros -A lot more professional -Has a ton of creative freedom (you can do sooo much more with it) -Ideal if you want more of a website with a blog rather than just a blog. Cons -Not really recommended for super beginners...it'll take a tiny bit of time for you to get use to. -It can be a little complicated if you want a more advanced custom design -A bit more expensive than blogger. Blogger Pros -Pretty easy to use -Cheaper (you can get started for free) -Ideal if you want blogging to be your primary focus Cons -A bit generic -It's very limited in terms of what it can do -Good for more casual style blogging rather than serving as a professional grade site Sep 17 13 11:02 am Link |
