Emily, your portfolio doesn't say where you live, but you can go 2 really easy routes for body paint. One, if you have a Michaels Crafts in your area, go now & check out their Halloween face paints. They usually have about 3-4 brands, but the one you want is the brand Snazaroo. The $13-$14 kits with 6-8 colors are fine to start you off, but you can even buy 1 or 2 colors in the large, separate cakes. A beautiful white, swirly design all over the body is a nice way to start to learn brushstrokes. Find some of their inexpensive, artificial sable brushes, like white Taklon. Look at the packages of 4-6 different sizes in one bag. Any brush listed as "good for acrylics" will likely work just fine. If you're going to buy just one brush, look for Loew-Corneille, round, #4, #6 or #8 & try that. Experiment with the paints by doing brushstrokes on your arm & legs. Wipe off with baby wipe or damp washcloth & practice some more. Look on Youtube for face painting tutorial videos.
You can also go to a website like sillyfarm.com & order 1 or 2 colors in Paradise, Snazaroo, Kryolan, Wolfe or FAB brands & try them out in the same way. Each brand on that site is very good & has it's own characteristics, just like brands of makeup. There is no be-all & end-all best body/face paint; everyone likes it a little different. You might like the Sparkle Red from Snazaroo better than the Brilliant Fushia from the Paradise brand, for example.
