Barbie Millicent Roberts made her first appearance in public on March 9, 1959 at the New York Toy Fair. Her first look was intended to mirror the sophisticated glamour of 1950s stars like Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth: high arched brows, pursed red lips, a sassy pony tail with curly bangs and a coy, sideways glance. Accessories to her black and white bathing suit were sold separately, priced from $1 to $5; initially, she came with either blonde or brunette hair.
Barbie now lives in the hearts of boys and girls of all ages. She is also part of the popular culture. Go Barbie! I love you.

She's a heck of a lot older than 50! Obviously she's had a lot of plastic surgery.

I'm hoping the OP may have a confused image of Barbie above. She's looking nothing like that here.

From Wikipedia- "Barbie's full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts. In a series of novels published by Random House in the 1960s..."

"...she's had a lot of plastic surgery." Funny!

If she is turning 50, how did she make an appearance 54 yrs. ago?
A pre-zygote or something?

Actually, the US Barbie is based on a German toy/comic strip for adults, about a much more sexual person, who also slept with men for money.

The creators of Barbie encountered the original Barbie during a visit in Germany.

Wikipedia:
"Barbie is a fashion doll manufactured by the American toy-company Mattel, Inc. and launched in March 1959. American businesswoman Ruth Handler is credited with the creation of the doll using a German doll called Bild Lilli as her inspiration."

Barbie? Babs? Yeah. I can see the confusion. But you haven't had as much plastic surgery. You're the REAL thing! wink

And besides.... you still have a long way to go before you hit 50. The way I understand it, you're only 39 - with a handful of years experience! big_smile

Bild Lili sounds like she'd be fun.
