Hey Mayhem!

Sience I have had some bad luck with getting no images, very few, or months later finally getting images!
What photographers would YOU recommend to shoot with in California and/or Oregon?!

I do NOT recommend to OUT anyone publicly.. For that you can send me a private message.. Thanks again!

Are you checking references? Not just those provided when requested, but of the models in his portfolio. contact them to find out how the photographer lives up to their agreements. you do seek to reach a clear agreement on the number and time table of images, right?

Some photographers do not have a list of who they have worked with... Asking them is kinda silly to me, cause of course, you are not going to tell someone to ask your last boss, if they fired you?!

So I am asking Models and Photographers who they would recommend in the areas stated..

So rather than vetting who you work with you rather take random suggestions from total strangers?.....Cuz uncle Bobby Jo down the street has a corvette and a really nice studio. He often has little girls there you may wanna work with him?..  tongue

"TF" is so subjective. Really depends on what was initially agreed. Never assume you'll get images, always negotiate before shooting.

First of all SORRY I had a hunch some might take offence.. And yes true even thoe someone reffers someone this way dousen't mean that i can be more confadent.. But I thought it was worth a try?!

I do TFP (Time for print) I have almost always signed releases.. and Always talk about how images will get to me.. About how many and in how much time.

It is all a learning experiance! Some of the people I will not work with again.. Some I would love to but from them not getting images to me and or the way they respond to my emails or not, I take it they would never work with me again..

Now I could go and out these people but, I am not.. I may have had a bad experiance with them.. Douse not mean others will..

So I do not find it BAD of me in anyway to use a public post as means to be recommended to Photographes..

No, you need to ask who they have shot with, if they have any shots with anyone on MM get the number and do your checks, if they havent shot with anyone on mm, at least get one reff from one of the shots.

Anyone who doesnt have a list of who they have worked with, I ALWAYS ask, its not just to check if they are a serial killer, its also to find out what they are like as a photographer to work with

were they professional, did they get prints back in the time promised, yada yada yada

im not going to promise you it will keep you from getting one or two "flakes" but at least look into who you work with big_smile

I'm also in Washington state... but I do come to the Portland area frequently and if you aren't in the area will supply them to you via a link or direct email.

So add me to your safe photographer for TFP list

In San Diego, I've heard good things of a guy called Click Hamilton.
Dunno whether he is still shooting or not, or whether that's your
style or not.

You best bet is to find a local photography or creative group in your area of hook up with other models. Networking with real people is a much more reliable way of finding out who's good to shoot with.

And yes asking strangers for recommendations happens all the time so don't listen to the nay-sayers.

Have fun smile

This. I would also recommend doing a quick search for models who live in those areas and looking in their portfolios for photographers who interest you. I would contact these photographers, and contact their references if they agree to shoot. You always want to know what you're getting yourself into. I know that, at least for me, I always regret not taking that precautionary step when I don't. Also, put out a casting call smile
