OP: not the first time people send these, and certainly not the last most likely. If you got this on MM, please use the contact a mod form to submit it here: https://www.modelmayhem.com/contactamod

as usual per say also, the quickest way to find out if anything is a scam is to google it with the word scam in the search query also. Generally if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

If your manager had even a clue as to what she was doing, she'd never have called them in the first place. This is the oldest scam in the world short of "I give you two mastodon steaks next week for one mastodon steak today."

Can you guess what happens after you send the balance to a third party?

You might want to re evaluate the experience and qualifications of your "manager" and their role in your modeling career. If they had answered the phone the both of you would probably be out a bunch of money.

Gee. Um. Thanks.
Did you figure out it was a scam because you fell for it or because something in your brain clicked and told you it just couldn't be a legitimate offer?

Thank you for posting this.  Obviously this is a common scam, although this apparently is the first you have learned about it.  Even though we see it often, thank you for pointing it out.  It brings it to the attention of new members that may not be aware of it.

If you would like to learn more about common scams and how to avoid them, there is a good article in the "Education" section of the site.  CLICK HERE to read the article.

And congratulations for picking up on it and not becoming a victim.

They intentionally misspell and use bad grammar. They figure if that doesn't tip you off, you're ripe for picking.

The fact that there is no basic grasp of the English language, i.e. the entire letter is one paragraph, it should be enough to know that it isn't professional and therefore probably a scam.

Now you know what your manager does for you.  This is the oldest scam in the book... I first heard of this in the 1970's and it was old then.  Any manager or agent with any knowledge of how the modeling business works would have known this immediately, and would not have called 3 times.

And the best thing you can do for yourself is do some research, and learn how the modeling business works.

Start by going to the SCAM info that model mayhem gives you and reading that, three times.  Maybe ask your so called manager to read it to.

Sorry to be so harsh, but you need a wakeup call.

Great post! People sometimes forget what it's like to be new.

It's always best to be safe than sorry and never feel intimidated in asking about something you're not sure of.

it's just amazed me these Nigerian scams (or the many variation f it) has been around for 20-30 years, they used to send you letters like Mrs So and so's husband was killed by a Nigerian general and she has inheritance of $10-50 million pounds in an African bank and she urged you to be their savor and send $2000-$5000 for her to release the money and you get paid 10%. Typical play on your greed. If you fell for it, you have no one to blame but yourselves.
