What does the artists in here think about those MK parties? I went to one yesterday and I just have to vent... That poor girl didn't know anything about anything, and she only had 2 shade samples, and everyone either looked like ghosts or oranges, hmm

I tried not to be too honest, lol because everyone seemed to be complementing each other, but I couldn't. It didn't look right.

Love it hate it, opinions?

A friend of mine became a seller (whatever they call them) and allegedly also a Mary Kay MUA a while ago, and tried to talk to me about their products. She doesn't know anything about anything. She had no idea that eyeshadow is supposed to be blended, that you don't just draw a single color of eyeshadow across your bare eyelids in a thick, crumbly line...

Also, the products just seem overpriced to me.

yeah I bought a $10 concealer, surprisingly it matched only because I felt bad for her hmm

The eyeshadow combos didn't match well and weren't very pigmented, I would have to put layers of it to even show up on my skin because I'm an olive complection

Excellent skin care products and some good cosmetics as well. As for the level of competence of the consultants...varies greatly, depends upon how long they've been in the business, who trained them, etc. Same for the products used at demonstrations. They have to invest in supplies. Some are able to have more on hand with which to demonstrate, and others aren't.

Yeah she was just starting out, I learn too much from this forum lol. So many things she did wrong and such. She didn't know the word for exfoliant, the difference between concealers, she gave us no foundation. Idk I shouldn't go to these things lol. I hope I enjoy my concealer when it comes in

I've tried a few Mary Kay products are some were okay, some were blah. The parties to me are just a sales pitch, but I guess could be fun for girls who aren't really looking for professional makeup or knowledge.

For most of those seller they ain’t professional at all. Yes it a source of money for them (plus they’re people gonna help them to buy few items). But they just regular people trying to bring something they most don’t know about it.

Eh i think it depends on which constultant you have i have met some good ones out their and some that where not so great. But personally i prefer the motives makeup parties the beauty advisors i have met from them known much more about the products and usually have a wider array of options but once again it all depends on the person hosting the party
