I am becoming increasingly aware that my lingerie collection is pitifully small. I am always being asked to bring some lingerie to shoots.

I have close to nothing. One or 2 bras, and a handful of panties that I reserve just for shoots. One teddy/nightgown, 2 "fashion corsets". That's it.

I don't normally shoot lingerie... because I don't have much. My bra size is incredibly hard to find, 28B. There is this one company I know of that makes bras in my size, but they are expensive! I currently do not have the $60 to shell out for a bra.

Most photographers do not seem to be a fan of the bralette... which I prefer over bras because it feels less constricting.

Any opinions?

You build wardrobe over time. Pick one piece at a time, one good piece. Then another, then another. It's simple.

And in two or three years you'll have an amazing collection.

Trade some time for lingerie... specifying what it is you want them to get for you.

You shoot nudes, why would anyone ask for a lingerie shoot? LOL You didn't click the box for lingerie so I don't see why anyone would ask for something you don't do...

There is nothing wrong with small boobs, I've photographed many. Why cover them up?

Because people want to shoot me in lingerie.

Do they say bras specifically? You may be able to go with lingerie of a different type (chemise, gown, robe, underbust corset [to avoid the bust measurement issue])... You'd be bringing lingerie, and it can potentially be a better budgeted one for you since you aren't restricted to your measurement as much and can shop around smile

PS Cute tank top + undies gives a nice lingerie feel also smile

If people want to shoot you in lingerie, then your rate needs to reflect the cost of being able to provide all the elements. Unless you can find someone giving away lingerie in your size, you can't afford. I've bought lingerie for models that I have shot with and I did make sure it was a good fit for them and it was the appropriate style for them. I sounds like you know what you have to do, but are holding back, hoping for a better solution. I would photograph you nude or clothed, but only in a style that was suitable.

+1. Just politely let any future photographers know that you have a very limited lingerie wardrobe because of your unique sizing. Offer them some options such as sending them to a few online sites and let them pick out and pay for what they want you to be in or to just give you money for those items. Then say that if that is a problem then they can always just shoot you topless.

Not lingerie, per se, bit I've been buying different variations on the net shirt, crochet top... Anything open and airy but that adds texture to the shot with a little bit of this and that peeking through.:-)

OP: most likely the photographers that want to shoot you in lingerie have a specific look in mind already. I would suggest to negotiate with them to obtain the lingerie, and then you get to keep it after the shoot to add to your collection as part of your payment. Seems like a win/win because you will have lingerie for future shoots, and they will get the images that they had in mind to begin with from whatever they like.

Have you tried bra 'sister sizes?' I also have a hard-to-find size (36A) but I notice a 34B pretty much fits just as well, *shrug*

I always thought smaller boobs could get away with less constructed stuff. Without the need for so much support light, silky vests and shift type underwear looks cute. Or cupless leotards.

For shoots, you should be able to get away with 30 As, which aren't easy to find but easier than 28 Bs for sure.

Or go with sheer/unmolded/unpadded cups.

I have the same problem!

Wacoal is a nice brand and they have a petite collection

There's also the little bra company

Your "sister size" is a 30 A.. It won't be a perfect fit but it does the job when you can't find your size.

Stockings and a Garter Belt.  I am probably one of a few photographers that buy my models lingerie. When I shoot,  I want a specific look and will provide the lingerie for that look.

Waist cincher and stockings would be a great look for you.

The sister sizes in my size are also nearly impossible to find.
I wear a 28B, so the sister sizes are 30A and 32AA.

This is all true, and one would think it should be cheaper as a result.

However, many - if not all - commercial pattern designs have things like darts and compound curves for women with boobs, more curves, or a deviation in standard height/length someplace and then the problem becomes re-drafting and re-drawing the pattern to alter it for a smaller, taller, or more curvier client.  Then comes a few mock-ups sewn up to see if it will fit the client.  Move one seam 1/4 inch and the whole thing falls apart in looks.  I know this as I'm going through one right now.  Ain't all that easy if someone does not fit the "commercial pattern" from from the big houses.

After all, time is money and I don't know why someone expects anyone to alter a pattern and sew up mock-ups for 20 cents an hour. And yes, I've blindly walked into that 20 cents an hour stuff at times with maybe 9-11 muslin mock-ups.

It may be worth your while to try ebay, there are many Asian companies listed that should be able to accomadate your size requirements and produce some quality items.

Men are extremely visual: Lingerie adds an element of mystique, provoking curiosity.

Personally, I'd much rather view a lingerie shot over nude.

My OP was about finding lingerie that fits, not what about photographers think.

Here are some great online stores that sell 28B or 30A:

Mimi Holiday also makes some beautiful high quality bras, many in size 28B:

Simple....lingerie is often used as a prop in nude photography.  Lingerie can be used to create a mood that a standalone nude cannot.

My advice for meeting any lingerie needs a photographer might have would be to first get a bra, thong panties, and thigh-high stockings  in all black and all white, and at some time in a color that looks good on you.  I would not be overly concerned with top of the line quality.

I have a shoot coming up where I'm meeting the model at a dept. store first, and then picking out the lingerie...at my expense.  She will likely need a 28B. There is a large Asian population here in the Seattle area, so there are a few that have that size in common colors.

I agree with the others....don't change a thing, you're perfect.

I did a quick Google search and found this....which is kind of refreshing, something on Tumblr that doesn't quickly link to porn.  This page features lingerie ideas for petite women.
