I'm not an Aperture user (LR) but I know when I was picking a tool, one of the complaints I heard about Aperture was the relative lack of updates. It seams there will be one more and users will then be transitioned off to a new tool (Photos for OS X).

Great hmm I use photoshop and this will drive photoshop price up if they don't make Aperture or have to be forced to make updates either. No competition to deal with no motion

Although the Aperture brand is going away, the article indicated that most of it will be incorporated into a new software program.

There are also several different competitors to Lightroom, some of them being free and in some cases maybe even BETTER than LR.  At one time Bibble was a strong competitor to LR.  It was taken over by Corel and is now called After Shot.  It's available for a fraction of the LR price.

I always thought Aperture was little more than a glorified version of Iphoto, falling fall short of the editing capabilities of programs like photoshop or even free GIMP.

From the article it sounds like their new system will require people to use Icloud which is probably the point.

I loved the file handling of Aperture but I finally made the move to Lightroom as it was just really bogged down once you had a large library of images.

I have this, got it for $49 on sale. Sign up for a log in to Corel's site and just wait, the deals come again and again.

It works well, have not compared it to anything else except the software that came with my Canon Rebel. That creates good looking images but it is pretty slow.

It seems like Adobe will always be the top dog when it comes to creative software. I really am amazed how there really is not a strong #2 to at least keep them honest. Instead they just run all over their customers with no fears of losing them because where are they going to go. If you don't use Adobe's products how far are you going to be able to go as a creative digital professional.

Thanks did read the article.
I don't use LR
So I take it, its closer to LR then PS anyhow then because your brought up LR.
I guess it don't matter then for me then as I wanted a competitor to PS.
Why don't people just buy Corel then if its so much cheaper then LR?
