My cat doesn't meow normally but in a carrier he does nonstop. He's never been on a trip except to/from the shelter and a vet. There are no possum in the U.S., it's opposum here. This is true but I have never heard them called anything but possums. Could be 'possums I suppose. Or, we could discuss the "local marsupials" and that would take care of it. Marsupial is a cooler word anyway.

That is marvelous! I don't know if it is obvious, but I am openly rooting for you!

I wasn't particularly leisurely when I lived there, and I'm not even remotely that way now. I tend to honor the gospel of gettin' shit done, and southern folks are notorious for dragging their feet. Google "Hookworm in the South Rockefeller" to learn how a parasitic infestation created a "culture" that appears to lack any sense of urgency. Lots of Tarheels moved up to these parts for the logging trade and you still see the lackadaisical "gonna get around to it" attitude up here. Drives us California imports insane!!!

"Marsupial" makes me think of cuddly creatures, not the one we are talking about!

I am planning on having a log cabin, or regular cabin in the Catskills, with a barn that will be a multi-purpose thingy, e.g. practicing martial arts, meditation, maybe photoshoots and a place where I can paint! You are way ahead of me! Congratulations!!! I already have 10 acres of land in northern Michigan. Going there is very relaxing.

You can't go do shit around here, unless you have at least $100 to throw at it, $30 of which will go directly toward parking. I keep hearing there is a decent art scene in NC, I always imagine it being more crafty though- any thoughts on the better areas for artists down there?

Western NC had a crazy awesome art and indie music scene when I lived there. Obviously, I don't know how much has changed, but even for a tiny city with only around 90,000 people, Asheville's art scene was grittier, more youthful and diverse than anything I've encountered in Boston.
