Peppermint is very calming to cats. I don't know how much or what kind to use except I read that the oil is good for a bath for them. My cat doesn't meow normally but in a carrier he does nonstop. He's never been on a trip except to/from the shelter and a vet.

There are no possum in the U.S., it's opposum here.

This is true but I have never heard them called anything but possums.

Could be 'possums I suppose.

Or, we could discuss the "local marsupials" and that would take care of it. Marsupial is a cooler word anyway. smile

That is marvelous! I don't know if it is obvious, but I am openly rooting for you!

The only thing that is going to drive me nuts is that, when I go back down there, I get irritated because people are so leisurely about everything. I wasn't particularly leisurely when I lived there, and I'm not even remotely that way now. I tend to honor the gospel of gettin' shit done, and southern folks are notorious for dragging their feet.

Google "Hookworm in the South Rockefeller" to learn how a parasitic infestation created a "culture" that appears to lack any sense of urgency. Lots of Tarheels moved up to these parts for the logging trade and you still see the lackadaisical "gonna get around to it" attitude up here.

Drives us California imports insane!!!

Where I am from they have a Possum Trot Road. I think it's just become so common of a mistake almost no one knows it's incorrect. "Marsupial" makes me think of cuddly creatures, not the one we are talking about!

There's a "Turkey Holler Road" near where my mom grew up, and it's actually spelled "Holler" on the sign.

I am planning on having a log cabin, or regular cabin in the Catskills, with a barn that will be a multi-purpose thingy, e.g. practicing martial arts, meditation, maybe photoshoots and a place where I can paint! smile

You are way ahead of me!

Congratulations!!!   borat

I already have 10 acres of land in northern Michigan.
Going there is very relaxing.   smile

Really? I had some peppermint Chapstick, and when I made my cat smell it she looked offended.

Back when I lived there, I actually had a far more active cultural/social life than I ever had in Boston. There's a lot of arts scene stuff there, and it's a lot more accessible. You can't go do shit around here, unless you have at least $100 to throw at it, $30 of which will go directly toward parking.

I keep hearing there is a decent art scene in NC, I always imagine it being more crafty though- any thoughts on the better areas for artists down there?

Something like that. More narrow eyes. She also hates toothpaste and absinthe.

Western NC had a crazy awesome art and indie music scene when I lived there. Obviously, I don't know how much has changed, but even for a tiny city with only around 90,000 people, Asheville's art scene was grittier, more youthful and diverse than anything I've encountered in Boston.
