On STTNG, the Enterprise repeatedly comes across "temporal anomalies," where time is different from normal time.  Now, I'm willing to suspend disbelief for the sake of enjoying some SciFi.  But what the heck is a temporal anomaly?  How can there be a region of space where time runs faster or slower than in another region?

This is more like fantasy than science fiction, imo.  Any other thoughts on this?

Time does in fact move at different rates in different places.  According to General Relativity, time moves more slowly in places where the gravitational field is stronger.

ETA:  The more troublesome kind of time anomalies are the loops.

I forgot about the Einsteinian thing.  OK, there is a sort of basis for those "time distortion" episodes on STTNG.

I'd discuss this further, but I don't have the time.  big_smile
