Hello Everyone,

I managed to complete a day's worth of modeling with a great photographer, Richard Wayra, and I would really appreciate some feeback on the portfolio.

Sincerely,

- Jay Singh

I have to say that I don't like any of them.  I feel like the quality of the images is just not good and your poses, well, they aren't there yet.  You can do so much better than this.  Just as other people have said, I see the potential in you but this is lacking.  I say find another photographer and learn more poses, what to do with your body, face, etc.  If you want to model then you have to seriously bring it.

Ok, none of your current images make the eye stop and look with fascination, but your latest work is a big advance on the early work. The Wayra work, though more polished, seems uncomfortable: if the body looks ok, the facial expression is off, if the face looks good, the body looks stiff and awkward. Often, there is nothing in the image but YOU and YOU aren't able to control how you look. Consequently, the images just expose your weaknesses at this early time. It would be better, in my opinion, if you made images that blended you in with a landscape/urbanscape, so as you learnt to be more natural in your poses, if you did more than the standing colossus look.

Thanks for the feedback homie, I'm pretty new to this so I love the tough honest criticism, I love learning from failure.

It's difficult building a decent PF when you're new. Clearly you have a lot of learning to do and the good thing is that you know that so that's a positive. Because you are new you're going to find it hard to perhaps find a really good photographer to shoot you TF and it's probably not a good idea to pay for a really good one to shoot you just yet either.

SO, what is the answer?

Well I tell a lot of new models this:

Go and find lots of images of other models in poses you think are awesome and learn those poses. Yes seriously look at their form, positioning and how they hold the poses and learn them in front of a mirror. Learn some of your own as well and again practice in front of the mirror, learn what works for your body shape. Modelling isn't easy and anyone who thinks it is, is misinformed.

You're in fair shape but without being rude could be better especially if you're looking towards underwear or fitness modelling so go hit the gym hard for 6 months.

Once you have done all of that then the next step is to find your wallet and pay for the best photographer you can afford to shoot you, forget TF. Do your research first though and make sure you really LOVE his/her work.

That's the best advice I can give and normally sorts out the men from the boys, the girls from the ladies and the serious from the wannabees.

Good Luck!
