So I post a beautiful editorial to discuss composition in my fan page

A guy comments: "Well, if I would see a girl in real life with such legs, I wouldn't find her sexy - I would pity her for whatever consumptioning sickness she suffers. hmm"

I call him on it and I'm accused of "bullying my fans/subscribers"

Arregghhhhhhhhhh

If you can dish it out, then you should be able to take it. Don't take a swing unless you're prepared to get hit back.

You did the right thing. People assume that "expressing their opinion" gives them the freedom to not be courteous. Wrong. People are not punching bags.

Also, "opinions" at not always critiques. Critiques are based on an expertise in the field from years of study and practice. Spouting off an opinion based on nothing is just someone trying to feel superior.

I have no problem with him liking more voluptuous women. To each their own. After all we need fans too wink but your "fan page", is not the appropriate forum for these opinions. Shame on him! If he wants to right about it on a different board that's his prerogative. But there's a time and place for everything and sounds like he chose the wrong place imo

Where is the right place to say: "pity her for whatever consumptioning sickness she suffers. "

About a person?

Having a preference is fine, insulting someone and acussing them of being sick, because they don't fit in your stereotype of beauty... A bit more than "preference"

Taking shots at thin is one of the newer peanut gallery past times. It's almost as if we have created a culture of people who feel it's their right to be perpetually offended. The kicker is they have to be told what to be offended by, For the most part they haven't got the sense to come up with something on there own. hmm

FWIW, It's beautiful work Natalia.

I love them all. Each model has some unique quality they bring. Some are thicker and some are thinner. I am not sure what average is or looks like.

I really dislike the skinny-bashing trend, especially since many of the people who are criticized are often really not that skinny, often height/weight proportionate or close to and not suffering from anorexia.

I think a big part of the problem at least in the U.S. is that with over 2/3 of the population being overweight, obese or morbidly obese, we've lost all sense of what height/weight proportionate is, often referring to people who are actually height/weight proportionate as skinny.

I've had people call me skinny, in well meaning way, even though I'm at least 20 lbs overweight.  It's so skewed.

Not only is this not fair to those who are skinny or height/weight proportionate, but it's a bad message to be sending at a time when obesity is becoming a leading health care problem. We should holding up, healthy, skinny people as something to be emulated, not ridiculed.

The way I look at it people do make fun. Of short people of people with less hair, of people because they speak differently. I would agree the illness part would bug me. Only because I don't joke about health. You never know what someone has or their brother has or they suffered threw. Not a joke. But people rant on the internet. I don't fight it, not because I agree, but because I agree with my right to express my opinion. With that right I must allow people who have opinions I think are abhorrent to voice theirs. It's a us first amendment thing. I hate racism for instance, but if I want the right to fight out against it, I have to allow some guy to say what he feels for it, even if I think his thoughts are awful.

There's always a heckler in the audience.
The trick is to make them look bad, with elegance.

The guy is trying to be politically correct.
Unfortunately for him he doesn't realize that the pc pendulum is swinging back.

I thought it was a really cool debate and wanted to see some discussion on it,.. till i read the commets. Hostility, negativity, i find them so draining. I probably would've deleted the comment because it takes too much energy to continually deal with idiots and assholes.

Fuck em, you did well.

Welcome to a world where a women's body is everyone's business, and not being someone's particular choice of wank material gives them the right to slag off your appearance at best, at worst attack your health, your personality and a million other irrelevant factors.

Exactly and as he has the right to express his disgusting, aggressive and ignorant opinion I have the right to call him on it smile

So many prejudice options, so little time.

I did take a look at the post and comments and noticed that this ^ had happened.

Maybe you should post the image and (composition topic) on MM as well, it (composition) is an interesting topic considering the image.

On a side note i love your retouching work in general smile.

I think that seeing the image would put this in more context:

https://imagesgonerogue.com/photos/2009/may/atoutesjambes2.jpg

Not one to Terry Richardson's better images of that period.

While the language the guy used was not nice at all he does have a point that the model is really skinny and does not look naturally slender.

Telling off someone because they don't fit your ideal is not ok

Accusing someone of being sick because of how they look in pictures is not ok

However I must say that  discussion about composition being done on an image that is online and not cropped as published is the sort of thing that is annoying.

The right place, if there is one, is on his own wall or fan page. If anyone doesn't want to read that kind of thing, they can delete him or not bother visiting his page. Putting stuff like that on someone else's wall/page, especially when that's not what they're talking about, is out of line.

Yes i agree on this point, but since there are now two versions of the same image it can be compared at least personally within.

No you don't get my point.

Vogue France has an aspect ratio of 4x5.25 with the crop done by Fashion Gone Rogue
is even longer than 24x36.

Discussing composition on an image that is cropped so far from the magazine page is rather off to say the least.

Would be like discussing a retouchers skin texture based on an image on some blog that has been oversharpenned  when uploaded.

Oh holy fuck where do I start...
Apparently it's totally acceptable for people to make such snarky comments as "woah I bet I could snap her in half" or "eat a cheeseburger, nobody wants to root a 10 year old boy", but if one of us skinny folk were to tell a fat chick to cut down on the pies we'd be horrible, insensitive bitches.

But more than 2000 people read his "opinion" now.

That's 2000 less potential clients

2000 less potential models wanting to work with him

Etc
