Depends who ya ask.  To a 13 or 14 girl, a lot of those songs are probably the greatest songs ever.

To me, and perhaps anyone over 30?  Just hand me a gun so I can blow my brains out.

I am over 30. I like some of them. However, unlike most people in my age group, I do follow pop Top 40, and listen to everything from Johnny Cash and Miles Davis, to Beyonce and European black metal, so...

Except for Gangnam Style.

That song is absolutely awful.

That Soulja Boy song is actually on my HIIT playlist for the the gym.

Those really heavy, bouncy beats are good for running and doing things like jump-squats. If you notice the style of dance that tends to accompany that type of hip-hop involves a lot of jump-type movements.

You fire that up in a gym aerobics class, and you'll have old ladies that look like they can't even get out of bed without assistance, bouncing right out of their stretch-pants.

I actually love the hamster dance and crazy frog is my favorite techno/pop animation on Youtube. I actually loved the frog's personality and character, as well as the song. sad

Ok.  I'll give you that one.  smile  It still cracks me up.

Like i said, depends on who you ask.  I'm sure there are a lot of young women who will like a lot of these songs.  But if I heard any of these songs coming from another guy's car, I'd have to ask for him to turn in his manhood card.  Ha!

Not necessarily "young," considering much of that music seems to be from the 90s and early 2000s.

That silly "ketchup song" is over a decade old - as indicated by the blue jean styles in the video. No one wears jeans like those anymore, except for people like me, who are poor and shop at Goodwill.

Glad to find someone else who thinks it's irritating too.

I think it's a pathetically annoying meme, and should be stamped out of existence.

That Friday song is actually so awful, it's good.

No, really.

It sort of has the same appeal that you get from watching a very badly acted horror movie, with plenty of comical, low-budget gore

I'm being good, because I fear hell when I die - a pit of horror, where Satan plays Hotel California on a loop, for all of eternity.

Sometimes, the Dark Lord throws some Air Supply in there, just to keep you on your toes.

Yes, but can you say your ABCs backwards, and stand on one foot while touching the tip of your nose?

That's really all that matters.

It's been called an unwitting parody of pop, and not without reason. I always cringe for Ms Black whenever I hear it...
But yeah, most of these songs are not bad per se, just really bland and catchy. The auditory version of a blockbuster flick.
I prefer earlier pop, where you sometimes were in luck with a lyric that really means something (Eve of destruction, If I had a rocket launcher, the Russians), but you know, there is a time and place for workout/house cleaning music such as this recentish pop stuff.

Like: "IIIIIIIII wanna rock and roll all niiiiiiiiight, and party ev-er-y day/IIIIIIIII wanna rock and roll all niiiiiiiiight, and party ev-er-y day."

It never gets any better either.

I'll take your word for it.

The 60's and 70's were a time of tremendous musical upheaval and creativity, but they also sold some real stinkers, and enough of my listening soul has already been sucked out over the years. I mean, there's awful music that you can still mindlessly jump up and down and dance to - and then there's the stuff that induces brain bleeding when the repressed memory is resurrected.
