I've had a shoot recently and photographer has really a unique style. Personally I love these pictures and a lot of people appreciate them but I've heard negative comments also. What do you think?

Maybe for a photographer portfolio are not bad...as an idea at least. But in my opinion(I am not an expert though) they don't look too flattering...especially if you want to look professional.
P.S:It isn't about the technique, but the overall look.
Just my 2 cents smile

Definitely eye catching.
They look like a lot of fun and show you as a fun model that is not afraid of trying something new.

Thanks! smile
It might not look like it but it was very uncomfortable to hold this position! Anyway I like to experiment.

BTW BlueMoon I love your new profile pic.

They're tacky and unflattering.

The first and third ones have a dirty floor, and the fourth one has some weird distortion going on with your hand, and the light on the hair doesn't make sense.

No, I don't.  I would bet that you're a pretty girl, and fit.  But these photos certainly don't show it.

Totally agree, most of the time serious wide angle lenses aren't used for fashion and there's a reason.  You have much much better in your port already.

i don't think they're likely to get you hired for any jobs, so i would not use them in a portfolio.

this is much more likely to get you hired for glamour work:

i don't know if i agree with your thoughts about the use of wide lenses in fashion, but it's irrelevant either way because these are definitely not fashion shots. not really sure why you're talking about fashion at all.

I'll rephrase; to a point I don't mind wide angle but these are SO wide it's almost a fish eye and her body is so close she's getting really distorted and that's something you don't see a lot in fashion, at least images I've seen.  I've always considered wide angles a better way to capture the environment as opposed to capturing a subject.  That's just my opinion though.

Actually, I don't get any work AT ALL, so... tongue

I just thought I'd do something different, I have totally failed when it comes to getting modelling jobs so for now I was thinking I could experiment a bit. At this point I am really fed up with trying to always look good considering the fact nobody thinks I am good enough to offer me any paid jobs, so I though at least I'll try something interesting.
I will most likely never do a glamour shoot again so weird stuff and art photos are the only options for the future.

I find that when the position is uncomfortable, the image is uncomfortable to look at.

One of them works better than the others. I'm a fan of wide angle distortion, but with people, not to this extreme.

It works when it adds to a concept and isn't done just to do it. These look like they were done without any real purpose, other than to distort.

Fun stuff, but doesn't help your modeling portfolio imo.

So, I like that you and the photographer were looking to do something different.  And I think one should find its way into your portfolio.

By the way if I ever find my way to London.... I would love to shoot fine art with you

The pictures need to be fixed.
Shoes are too big!

I wouldn't use them.

The most polite word that comes to mind when I look at those images is "Cringeworthy".

The first word that comes to mind - is something scatological.

You look tortured in every shot.  The up the dress angle is just tacky.  The distortion from the wide angle takes the other two to a new and disturbing level of awful.

It may have been a fun experiment, and as memorabilia for that they are fine.  Maybe as some sort of art installation they may work.  For me, I would walk right past them and never look at them again.

With a bit of cleaning up they might have comic value for the photographer but so far as a model's portfolio is concerned they're a waste of space IMO.

They look fun but Definitely Not proportional to your stats and port. Not usually a fan of distorting a beautiful model.

Nothing at all wrong with having one of those in your portfolio. More than that might be overdoing it.

First off let me say I love you as a model, but to me all these do is successfully illustrate how easy it is to overdo things with an ultrawide lens.
If you're really fond of them, perhaps hang on to your fav for something different, but in all sincerity, they do nothing for you Marta.

what's the intent of the photos?
SOmething for your portfolio? Or just for showing people who won't be hiring you?
Professionally, not good looks for you.

Something to talk about, ya they're odd and would strike up a good conversation. smile

The "ultrawide angle lens up close shots of models with big shoes" look?

The most heinous of all model shoot cliches in my opinion, it easily delivers the smackdown to caution tape, girls with guns/guitars, hand bras, railroad tracks/brick walls and even wronkled sheets.

This look was overdone the first time a Tog shot it.

Not flattering to you, don't use them.

The idea/concept is there however I wish the photographer or retoucher cleaned up a bit more, such as the floor or some simple basic retouching enhancements.

That would drive the image home.

Cheers

To be honest I hate them.  They just look amateur and messy.  Lint on your dress, your shoes look used up and dirty, the floor looks nasty, the angles don't flatter you at all, the lighting isn't that good and in the last one i can see where they hung on the black background which is like, seriously?

I get it though, they make you look like a fun model, they exaggerate your figure which is fun, but the execution was sloppy which in turn makes you look silly.  I mean look at the first and third image.  It looks like you stuffed a pillow in your butt.  It looks bad, it looks deformed.  I'm not particularly sure why you love them but hey if you love them that's all that matters.  I just personally think that they are not doing you any favors.

I mean they have a certain fun aspect to them and I commend the shooter for trying something a little out of the box.  I would have never tried a 12mm lens on a full frame body for a portrait shoot but now I know. smile

That said I wish the execution of the concept would have been better. With more attention to light, to the location, better post work, it could have been more port worthy.  As they stand, I would not use them.
