Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara Are Leaving MythBusters.

Jamie & Adam will remain as the show's host & only cast members.

Too bad -- I kinda liked the trio & liked their experiments.

No official reason why his move was being made.  My guess:  The producers didn't want to pay them, and the producers wanted to reduce the number of experiments per episode -- by significantly lowering their production costs, they raise their profitability.  But that's not something that they can admit openly.

Good luck to Tory, Grant, & Kari.

Thoughts from other fans of the show?

They've been with the show a long time.  I seem to remember other co-hosts when the show first started who came and went.  It wasn't until the last few years when they've stuck with the same crew for a long while.

My guess is they're either bored or have received offers for other projects.

I'm pretty sure both of them mentioned at their comic con panel that they're moving away from the myth busting and more towards a behind the scenes look at the making of what they have to do to set themselves up. More of a science and makers show, instead of lots of pretty explosions. I for one welcome the change... I love watching grant,  but Tory and Kari felt more like an interruption than a welcome interlude.

I'll reserve judgement and wait to see what happens and what it looks like before going yay or nay... As long as Adam is around I'm good! smile

From what I read, it sounded like they didn't quit, they were fired.  Jamie and Adam have said that they want to take the show in another direction, and others have speculated that this was a cost-saving move.

I wonder if Kari, Grant, and Craig still have their day jobs at M5.

It's one of those shows I kind of hate but watch anyway.

Interesting- I watched from the beginning and lost interest when the 3 others joined in. To me they kind of diluted the chemistry of the show.

I disapprove -

I assume it wasn't pretty behind the scenes - since they didn't "leave" on the last show's closing segment.

We were told "they're gone"

The show's pretty much run it's course.

It all sounded to me like a breakdown in contract negotiations.  The three have been on the show for 10 years and were probably asking for a pay raise.

I really thought the show was ending in 2011, when they had 3 clip shows where they just talked about their favorite myths.  Then in 2013, there were only 11 new episodes.  This is another point in a long squeeze-out of every penny the show can muster.

I liked them. I'm sorry to see them go.

They helped with the show's pacing. They really take too long to resolve their mythbusting as it is. The others added more heft to the show's content.

Ah, well. Things change. Hope they land on their feet.

I never understood why the show was disjointed with The Build Team doing their thing and Jamie and Adam doing theirs. Why didn't they ever work together? That said I like the show but feel it's running out of ideas. I downsized version may be interesting.

Hopefully the trio will go on to bigger and better things - they make a good team and they're definitely entertaining.

Might be safety related fallout from the more spectacular setups. The show may have become "uninsurable" in it's current form.

That "last" episode - the airline seating one - ran in Australia 2 years ago so it's production is not recent. There are other segments that have never played to a U.S. TV audience.

Some thoughts:

...  The trio showed up on other Discovery Channel shows, like Pumpkin Chunkin' or that rocket festival / competition.  We might see them there again.

...  I still think the producers have decided to reduce expenses by lowering payroll costs & reducing the number of myths per show.  That way, they can increase profits (and decrease show quality).  It's a numbers based decision.

...  I'll look forward to seeing what the "new direction" is.

I don't want to watch those old dudes. I usually fast forward through their segments. I guess I can take Mythbusters off my Tivo task list.

I stopped watching Myth Busters when I began to recognize all the things they were doing that skewed their results.

My 14 year old was pretty much devastated when I told him this news. I really do hope they are still on Punkin Chunkin. That's a family show we watch every year.

Used to love the show. I don't even know what channel it's on anymore. It's run it's course.

I've seen Kari do the sexy nerd think. Hopefully she has more time to market that now!!
