welcome to mm.  I myself am new to hairstyling and also looking for opportunities to learn from others in the field.  keep an eye on castings and hopefully something would show up that you can fit in.  I had started working along side with some of my friends that do hair and watched how they work.  you can probably ask around and see if you can watch or help your friends with makeup also.
