Mine was a Garden centre, they blocked off a section just for us for like an hour and I got some great shots

Too bad it was for a private portfolio and I didn't get to keep them

I had very much the same experience as your garden centre!

One time I modelled nude in an arboretum which had buildings featuring plants, trees, cacti and flowers, as well as outdoor areas. The assistant manager closed off the areas we were working in temporarily as we moved from one to another. In addition to the main photographer I was modelling for that day, several other people who were visitors learned what we were doing and asked permission to photograph me in the various settings as well after the first photographer had finished.

Tied with that location for top on my list of favorite places was a century old farmhouse and surrounding buildings which had been converted into a bed and breakfast. I did several photo sessions there, and this composite is my favorite from all we did, done in their garden shed.

There are other photos done in the house in my portfolio as well, including one which won the Model of the Day contest.

Sadly due to illness, the owners of the bed and breakfast had to close, and it's currently for sale. I hope the new owners whoever they turn out to be are as open to allowing guests the freedom to do photo sessions on the property. They actually gave us the keys, told us to have fun, and left for the day.

One of our libraries has the study room with 12' tall, north facing windows. Beautiful soft light.

All natural light.

There are no favorites for me. I simply use what I need, when I need it. Sometimes that requires a lot of arranging, but that's how it goes, doing location shoots.

Sorry -- probably not what you want to hear, but my favorite indoor location is my home.  I've got a lot of great locations within it, including (but not limited to) the following:

>>>>>  All photos listed here are 18+!

...  Natural Light by my living room windows.
...  Pretty much the same spot.
...  Using the other side of the living room as a studio.
...  The guest room upstairs.
...  My favorite window in late Spring.
...  Same window in summer.
...  Same window in late Autumn.
...  The steam room is surprisingly versatile.
...  Another style in the steam room.

...  and there are tons more locations.  I'm very happy photographing here.  Note to Portland people -- if I know the model or the photographer, my house can be made available.

The same for me. My building has multiple places with 11 foot south-facing windows. There's a lot to like about that much available light:

There are lots of gritty, odd places to shoot within the building as well.

The George Eastman House.  It's extraordinarily beautiful inside and has amazing gardens outside.

My house. I iid a period 1910 restoration.  High ceilings, antique fixtures, lots of wood.  Like going back in time.  It would be a great place for steam punk shoots.

Easy question. It is a location available for rent in Long Island City, NY in a former pencil factory. It is owned by an antique furniture dealer who keeps the stock available for (careful) use by photo and video shoots. The major downside is that it is very expensive to rent. I've seen the very distinctive backgrounds in shoots from Vogue to Victoria's Secret.

I've shot there on three different occasions.

Second favorite is a colorful hotel in Bangkok--considerably less costly to book. It was one location I used in my Thailand Photo Workshop.

The studio I use has a room with white walls, a mirror on the door, and west facing windows. When schedules allow, I set up sessions so sunset time is during the time we are there. I sometimes luck out and wind up with images like this (18+):

It was inside a photographer's apartment.

Second favorite, (only shot here once though,) is my current home. Its a 1903 industrial building in Flemmis style with great light, hardwood floors, 14 foot ceilings... yah.

Most all my indoor work is shot in my apartment, and specifically in my bedroom, which has led to me having quite the cred among all my friends, since most of the people I photograph are college females.

God, if only the cred were actually deserved tongue

A big ol' barn.

A hotel room where I was upgraded. It had a dining area, a huge bathroom, kitchen area, big living room. It was wonderful.

An 1875 church that is used for weddings, music performances and events. My favorite photo is from a staircase. Most people prefer the original stain-glassed windows. The church has been in at least one music video as well.

I love shooting out of my three bedroom home when I am not traveling. I have hardwood floors, natural light and a semi-private backyard. It's just such a great shooting space.

When I'm traveling I love shooting in landscapes. Cliffs, waterfalls, forests etc. It just something I do really well and it's fun to hike and shoot at the same time. But if I have to choose indoor locations, abandoned buildings are really fun. The juxtaposition of the female form with something dilapidated and ruined is just amazing.

My studio.   It's in the loft of a 19th century building with six eight foot tall windows, 12 foot ceilings and the original hardwood floors.  There is also a view of the town's historical district out of the windows.

And, I will rent it by the half day.

smile I agree, I really like these early 19th century lofts. Because of mine having multiple floors there are 20 windows that are 8' and available for a variety of full or soft light due to most being open to direct light and others having diffused light with the building next door.

Lovely,
Jen
p.s. only trade use while shooting with me at the moment
p.p.s. btw MN if you hop on Lake Shore drive and follow it south for about 7 hours it would take you to my door.

The attic of a local restaurant. I snuck up there during business hours. Like a ninja.

Longwood Gardens west of Philadelphia PA for both indoors and outdoors shots on weekday AM  is awfully hard to beat.  Get tripod/monopod permit if you have one.
They have outdoor blooming water lilies even this time of year.
