But rather than there being a literal snake in the tree - the tree Is Eve and the snake is entwined in her living flesh in the form of flowers - of course, what else would it be, lol? To sup of the forbidden fruit is to drown in the "sins" and "evil" of man (while you are not using water here, the sand or dirt serves a similar purpose visually, but with a very different emotional texture). But here, the act of drowning into the sand has a quality of sensual pull - quicksand pulling slowly at the edges of the story, while the fruit in all its forms tantalizes the viewer. Very sexual in an overtly subtle way. I love it.
