December 12, 2008 11:13pm This picture makes me want to cry. This girl is like and angel. THE most beautiful girl I have ever seen in my life. It hurts my heart. Amazing power you have... envoking such strong emotion.
October 04, 2008 1:27am there is something achingly beautiful about this shot. i see pain, hope and also (and i feel strange and, honestly, a little creepy saying this) a certain eroticism here. then my eyes move to the scars and the image takes on a different dimension altogether. a sadness descended and i wondered what had led to their terrible creation. then i began to think about this picture in the context of creativity and the artistic urge and felt a powerful joy in that this image was able to communicate so much, have so many levels of meaning and evoke such emotion --- some of it deeply uncomfortable --- all working at the same time. this is a triumph. i bow to you for the creation of such a powerful piece and her for allowing her humanity show through and letting us share in some tiny way in her triumph. regards. February 14, 2008 3:53pm This shot is one of many that took my breath away (and still continue to) from this series. I met this girl on a fluke the day of the shoot (I was to be shooting a guy friend of hers). I had no idea that this shy girl would tell so many stories with her eyes. At 17 she was sober off meth for about 2 years (after a few stints in rehab). When I put her in this dress and saw all the scars I just wanted to cry. She had no shame about them and made no secrets about where she'd been. She was one of the bravest most people I have ever shot and I plan on working with her again very soon so stay tuned....
