Just joking with you. I just heard a podcast where they did it London underground radio style. It was much amusement. Anyways...

I'm a designer|artist currently located in Dallas, TX (75/Lovers for you local folks). The technique that i use is called "photo-rotoscoping", which is in fact an animation technique. The base of the art is the photography. I then interpret the photo into an illustration via traditional methods (light box) or digital (new layer in Photoshop). The inking and coloring process are all digital. I'm not going to lie, i'm a tracer; though photo-rotoscoper sounds waaay cooler. Though illustrator also works.

I occasionally do some figure photography, though i mostly do street photography as a hobby. These i currently do with my little PowerShot. All of my other photography and snapshots can be found on my Flickr account listed below or through my main url http://www.vinhluanluu.com/

Note on Studio
I do not have a studio at all or even proper lights. I've been shooting in my apartment. Sadly, until i start making crazy Bradstreet level of money, this is how things are going to be. Honestly, for what i do, a decent mechanical pencil is way more important than professional photography equipment anyways. I just wanted to post an FYI.

"The Process" is how i want to approach my blog. I'm hoping to update regularly with art, photos, and mostly talk about the process of my work. I enjoy reading about other people's work flow and thought it would be a cool way to exchange ideas and get people's insight as well. I'm all about learning new techniques and collaborating with fun people and projects. Plus i'm a big fan of documentaries, and i want this to be sort of a work in progress as i try and make it in this crazy world.

Current Projects
Commercial Portfolio: I'm working out ideas for a more commercial portfolio ideally for magazines, specifically something i can drop off at Rolling Stone or even White Wolf. Something that really tells a story in one shot. I have a few ideas brewing; if anyone is interested, please drop me a note.

Gun Gals | Blade Babes (Illustrations)

This is sketchbook/pin-up book to compliment our t-shirt designs. As of now, the book will be in full color, about 36 pages. I am currently done shooting for this volume; depending on how it sells, i may do another one later in the year.

Synesthetic (Graphic Novel Anthology)

Synesthetic is a graphic novel anthology that I put organized in collaboration with twenty+ creators from the DFW area. The thesis of the anthology is there are elements in comics that exists but don't exist: sound, space, time. The creators were asked to create a story that is based on those themes and play with the comic medium. The book is available online for a special discounted price of $15US.
