About Me

My name is Chris and I am an art Photographer using B&W film and vintage cameras combining darkroom, digital and alternative processes to create surreal images. My aim is to create beautiful surrealism that can either stand alone visually or maybe make a compelling statement in an artful way. I combine various darkroom and digital techniques. The current project I am working on is an "empowered woman" series. Men and women are wired so differently. Men tend to objectify women. This series will be collaborations between myself and the model to capture an image that each woman choses for herself... one that represents her femininity, strength, and all the various forms of beauty on her own terms. I develop the film myself and then scan it into my computer. There I make an enlarged negative. This negative is then used for various forms of contact printing methods. I also make traditional silver gelatin prints as well. Something that hit me recently is that each photo will in a way represent the History Of Photography because they will be captured using cameras from the 1950s, manipulated in Photoshop, then printed using processes from the 1800s. I think that is so cool!

Now, for full- disclosure... This is my art. I am not paid to do this, so everything I do is out of pocket. I can in some cases pay, but mostly I am looking for people who would be willing to participate in exchange photos to add to a portfolio and/or for an art print. Because each print is so labor intensive and costly, I could only promise one print per person. I could, however, offer all digital files in addition to a print. I would also ask that you sign a model release so that I have the freedom to use the images in my art any way i see fit. I promise you, my goal is to create beauty.

There is a good chance I will be showing some of my in the near future so any agreement would be with that understanding and if a print were to sell at a show you would not get any portion of that as it will be years before I will ever be able to make back the amount of money I've already put into my art. I will, however, agree that any images that contain nudity would be subject to the models approval before any public showing. But, once they are approved, they would be my property and I would be free to use them to create various types of mixed art with them. Soooo... If this sounds like something you are interested in, I would love to talk to you about collaborating on some art!
