For the past four decades I’ve followed in the long artistic tradition of portraying graceful women in nature. I enjoy combining the beauties of the female face and form with natural elements like flowers, plants, rocks, creeks, and occasionally even a butterfly or other small creature that happens by.

I’m especially fond of abstractions, whether of shadows falling on the textures of a woman’s skin or of an isolated contour or feature of her body playing off elements of nature. For variety I sometimes include human elements like shawls, jewelry, mirrors, or even unexpected objects that we come across out in the field; it's surprising, or maybe only to be expected, how often serendipity has favored what happens in a photo session.

There are also plenty of nature preserves, greenbelts, parks, trails, and prairies in our area, so a scenic place is never far away.
