About MeThanks for stopping by!
I'm a published photographer many times over. Oh, but I mean nature photography--in magazines, collegiate textbooks, field guides, interpretive signs for parks and refuges, and on the list goes. But now I want to try my hand at people photography.
Friends and family have had me do photo shoots for them, and I found I rather enjoyed it.
My focus is on male imagery. That's mostly what I've done in the past, and I have an eye for it.
What I capture is what I capture and I can't pin myself down to specific genres. I tend to wing it, especially if the image tells a story or raises questions or incites emotions--preferably all three.
Though I have plenty of ideas about what I want to photograph and how I want to photograph it, IMHO, the most successful shoot is a collaboration between subject and photographer, so don't be afraid to have your own ideas about the kinds of photos you want taken.
Emotion is the energy from which photos draw character and vigor. Although "the serious look" can be used in many cases, it gets REALLY boring REALLY fast. So models should be prepared to smile, to wink, to frown, to smirk, to do something other than look stoic.
My style tends to be natural--natural light, out in the world instead of in a studio, you looking like you were caught in the moment rather than like you were posed (even if you were posed).
I'm trying my hand at this, so I'd be a fool to turn down TF* shoots. Thus, if you're looking to expand your portfolio without cost or if you're looking to test, feel free to contact me. I'll do my best to accommodate you--for your benefit as well as for mine.
I'm a WYSIWYG photographer (WYSIWYG = What You See Is What You Get). I don't "Photoshop" images outside of converting from RAW to JPG and the usual suspects--color correction and white balance, brightness and contrast, sharpness, cropping, B&W conversion, and digital noise reduction. If I can't get the picture I want from the camera, then the picture doesn't exist under the given circumstances. Trust me on this: when I start tinkering too much with an image after it comes out of the camera, I often end up with a mess. You don't want to see that.
I'm professional yet relaxed and casual. A shoot should be fun. I expect the same from you: laughing and joking during a session is required.
Thank you! For reading this far. Because if you've reached this point, you're serious about your work and interested in what I have to say about mine. I've been accused of verbosity (I am a writer AND photographer...) So, again: Thank you!
