About Me

[1/22/15 Update: I haven't been on the site much lately (apologies to people whose messages I ignored!), but that doesn't mean I haven't been shooting. Just did a massive update of my portfolio, so if you like the work I've got on here, that's what I've been doing lately. Let's shoot! :D]

Hi! I'm Russ Andes. By day I work for a company called CreativeLive which teaches photography and other creative education. By night and on the weekends I shoot for fun and for creative expression! I love the process and the challenge of creating a great shot, from concepting to planning to execution to post. My preferred subject is people in any form—from editorial portraiture and candid street photography to boudoir and fashion and art nude, I just love people!

Because this is not my primary source of income and something that I do purely for the challenge and fun and as a creative outlet, I am more than open to working WITH a model to make something great. I don't come into a shoot with a dictatorial mentality—I hope to work with models who are artists in their own right and able to bring ideas and creativity to the table!

While I always love to work with more experienced models, I have enough experience that I'm also happy to work with new models knowing I'll still get something great out of it while helping someone else—we all were beginners at one time, and it was only through learning from other people that we got to where we are now, so I'm happy to share the knowledge and skills I've learned.

I primarily work with portable speedlights and/or natural light, so I can shoot anywhere, and enjoy the challenge of shooting in unfamiliar locations.
