About Me

A third generation of cinematographers, Sebastian Demarco knew that he wanted to discover the world and tell his own story in images at 13. He learned it when he saw his uncle coming back from a two months shooting trip in the Altiplano of Bolivia, tanned although it was winter, with a handmade palm straw hat on and a long beard he wasn’t wearing when he left. Both this Hemingway-style need to explore and his first camera, an old Yashica rangefinder he then found at his father’s desk, still accompany him today, along with a strong background in arts. The Argentinean studied Photography Direction, Drawing and Architecture. The latter gave him a unique approach to the composition of images, an ability to deconstruct the reality in layers of light and volume, portraying all the faces of a subject and narrating the intention and expectation that lay beyond every instant. Strongly influenced by masters Coppola and Kubrick’s expressionist use of light and magic realist Jorge Luis Borges’ capacity to make the impossible seem possible, by using the right language, Demarco soon understood the possibilities of photojournalism.

The photographer started to experiment with movement and his career expanded towards videography and photography direction. Within the last decade, since relocated to Miami, he has worked for such prestigious companies as A&E, E! Entertainment, ESPN, HBO, History Channel and Warner Channel, and has collaborated with most renowned major film studios in their promotional campaigns shooting with stars such as Jessica Alba, Tom Cruise, Hugh Jackman, Cameron Diaz, Robert Rodriguez and Eva Longoria. However, his passion for adventure has made him to specialize in travel documentaries and extreme sports coverage. Demarco has shot B.A.S.E. jumpers, downhill skateboarders and free divers, underwater and hanging from paraglidings, helicopters and planes, all around the world. These experiences have only developed his technical and creative skills, which he continues applying to portrait photography, photojournalism, TV coverage, movie making and other media projects.
