:: PLEASE FOLLOW MY OFFICIAL FB PAGE FOR UPD8S :: :: http://www.annalouisemay.net :: :: MY PERSONAL BLOG :: www.blog.mayastar.net :: THE NEW-PRE RAPHAELITE MOVEMENT :: http://www.facebook.com/newpreraph :: :: ABOUT ME :: I am a professional "Mystic" (for want of a better word!). My main work is in teaching energy healing, spiritual development and providing metaphysical solution options to clients through http://www.mayastar.net & http://www.mayamagickal.net In my spare time, I enjoy a range of artistic endeavours! Specifically, modelling/photography and graphic art projects based on poetry, mythology...or anything I feel inspired by! In particular I like to work in Pre-Raphaelite & Victorian styles; Gothic; Pastel Goth and anything that incorporates pointe work as I adore ballet and it lends an ethereal quality to my projects. Recently I find that because I enjoy all aspects of the creative process, I am likely to have the idea and work on the design, lighting, photography and then digital enhancement or creation of digital art pieces that are far removed from the original photograph...a variety of styles and techniques. So those few photographers I work with currently are those that are happy for me to have access to some/all of the original images so that under the "InterSomnia Transmutations" name, I can mess around a bit and use the images to create other types of digital art. Of course, the photographer is always tagged! But I'm aware that some photographers and artists are not so comfortable with this 'overlap'; so those I work with are definitely collaborators on individual projects. As mentioned above, I am a classical ballet dancer and modelling en pointe has become one of my trademarks. As has my tight laced corsetry. I wear corsets at 20"-22" and as they are part of my normal 'day to day' wear (I tend to dress in Victorian style), I have an impressive collection of pieces by various corsetieres, some are sample style but I have made to measure pieces that create a long Victorian/Edwardian line; so they have a more conical body and are long in the hip to create a very smooth line). Another of what I would consider my trademark is my 'Lizzie Siddal' Pre-Raphaelite style hair; hennaed red and in very good condition! A vibrant copper/red with natural highlights and lowlights...it is perhaps one of my most striking features! My hair is naturally very thick and wavy. Also, it compliments my skin tone making me appear more pale and interesting than ever! It emphasises my green/blue eyes too. I'm currently (as of September 2015) growing my hair out. I can wear it in bun for Victorian style shoots. I will wear wigs, hair pieces and half wigs (I have a varied and comprehensive collection so I can achieve a variety of styles!) during shoots depending on the style. But I do prefer Pre-Raphaelite style specifically. :: MY LOOK & MODELLING STYLE :: I keep my skin very pale and very well maintained; I actually wear very little make up so I don't scrimp on skincare! My look is essentially based on typical Pre-Raphaelite but especially on Elizabeth Siddal and I work at developing and maintaining this style. It is certainly not a typical or fashionable look currently. It is certainly unique and eye catching. My aim in any project is in creating art, and that includes presenting myself as a 'work of art' whether I am being photographed, drawn or painted. So when I am working with someone I see the process as collaborative because I have created the work they are working from...if that makes sense! For this reason, I tend to classify myself as a 'muse' rather than a conventional model; but in many ways would consider myself an artist that enjoys collaborating with other artists. In addition to maintaining and developing my style, I also use tight-lacing/waist training corsetry for body modification purposes to lengthen my torso and train my lower ribs for a gently taper down to my waist for aesthetic reasons and personal preference. My body shape, fitness and skin type mean I tend to look younger than my actual age. I'm sure much of it is genetics, but I eat a healthy (predominantly vegan) diet, exercise regularly and look after my health. I think Creme de la Mer and a lot of ballet is what makes the main difference! My posture is naturally quite 'stately' and graceful because of dance, which I think also contributes to the overall 'aura' about me. # I am also nocturnal (literally), so perhaps spending less time in the sun over the years has paid dividends in anti-aging! I worked nights for a long time and these hours suit me best in the other work I do. A bonus with this 'habit' is that dawn location shoots work well for me and dawn lighting creates the kind of Pre-Raphaelite magick I am always looking to perfect! I have a lot of body art: a small pale blue tattoo on inside of my left wrist; a blue swallow on the inside of my right; 24 stars on my back, wings and stars on my hips, lower abdominal tribal and upper abdominal butterfly and tribal design on breasts; all 'torso' artwork is covered when modelling or dancing and the designs are in pale blue, pink and lilac and easily covered by mineral powder where they do show. But they have been placed so they don't show for dance exams which means they don't show for modelling either. I have 32 piercings; 24 of these are in my ears but I wear very small pale blue titanium balls or clear acryllic studs so mostly they are visible but very subtle...if you check the gallery page on my blog you'll see what I mean. I also have an extensive Pre-Raphaelite/Romantiqua Couture style wardrobe at my disposal because it is my day to day look! So I have many full length Victorian style skirts and petticoats, quality corsets, bustles, shrugs, camisoles, blouses and so on - and in a range of colours. Black, white, many pastels and a lot of florals too. I also have pieces that are individually created for more specific styles - Gothic, floaty ballet costume styles, Mori Girl, Antoinette and so on. My wardrobe is predominately bespoke pieces made by a variety of talented designers! I have many accessories, props and so on as well. I enjoy making some of my own clothes and accessories - so my look is never 'off the rack' and is ever-evolving! :: LOGISTICS :: As mentioned before, I am nocturnal so dawn shoots/sessions suit me best. At the present time I have more projects that I'm intending to work on as solo ones, but I am open to working with local artists if suitable opportunities present. by. :: TO FIND OUT MORE ABOUT ME :: http://www.annalouisemay.net http://www.blog.mayastar.net http://www.mayastar.net http://www.mayamagickal.net http://www.newpreraph.net http://www.anna.newpreraphaelite.net http://www.twitter.com/newpreraph Also find me under "@AnnaLouiseMay" on Instagram, G+, Tumblr, Blogger, LinkedIn, Flickr, WordPress, Twitter & Deviant Art ________________________________________________________________ :: LATEST NEWS :: After a hiatus due to professional and personal commitments in 2014/15, I intend to begin personal "InterSomnia" fairytale style projects at the end of the year and early 2015. So I look forward to collaborating with existing artists and hopefully working with some new ones soon! Verified Credits (0)Worked with Anna Louise May? Share your experience and become verified!
