My intentions for model Mahem are to build my portfolio and gain experience working with models.

I’m a proud resident of the Shaw neighborhood of Washington DC where I live with my wife Laura. She is probably the most photographed person in the world, also the most patient.

I started shooting with my father’s camera at age 5. He taught me the ins and outs of taking a great photo, how to adjust to the lighting conditions, and how to compose the best possible shot every time. My mother inspired me to develop an eye for a great image. “Hey Russell, that would make a great picture, go shimmy out onto that rocky overhang”.

I was raised in a diverse community between Baltimore and DC . Being near two great cities presented me with wonderful opportunities for exposure to art and culture. I have traveled extensively across the US and Europe, and lived for a time in New Zealand. Of course, my camera has never been far from reach.

As an amateur I won many local photography competitions. Since turning professional in 2011, I won the PMA International photo challenge and my photography has been featured on many blogs and websites.
