About Me

I attended an awesome (for me) technical course with wonderful, professional models in the fall of 2012, in Japan. The reason for going overseas - and not closer to home - were both the instructor (Alfie, MM #1297548) and the models. Some of the models are showcased in my portfolio. It was a big step for me, moving from landscape, wildlife and technical photography to people (strangers) in front of the glass, plus the challenge of not disappointing them.

I now enjoy the challenge of capturing people, whether its a set (usually the outdoors) or spontaneous street shots. I don't have a specific style or attitude, for I'm all about the location, the weather (if outside), and the model driving the moment. And if the first two aren't co-operating, will let's switch it up.

I am still new to working with models - it isn't the same as chasing wild animals around. You need more patience some days I think ! I don't intend on 'going pro' honestly - my other careers are equally fascinating and rewarding - but as a dedicated photographer I can help others build positive portfolios, creating products to assist with their own careers. What do I get out of a shoot with you ? The opportunity to challenge myself, and on the right day a heck of a lot of fun ! What do you get from me ? Someone who is willing to experiment and push the edge as far as you will, someone who will work with your ideas or help develop them into something better (hopefully).

My terms ? I'll go as far as TFP or equivalent at this time. Nudes ? Done them, and totally enjoyable under the right conditions. But I'll never ask any model to do it if I know they don't want to - it has to come from you, and if I sense you're getting uncomfortable once into it, we'll move on to something else - no big deal. You want a friend or your partner in on the shoot ? Absolutely - another hand to hold flashes or set the location up is always welcome. Heck, when we are reviewing photos during the shoot they may even have a few good ideas of their own if they know you well. Releases will be a must, and agreed to ahead of time. I don't mind coming to you, I travel lots for work and can always schedule a day off after the work stint to hang out and do a shoot. My gear is almost always with me. But if you are local to the BC or Alberta Peace region, even more the reason to send me a note.

I have shot with a few models here on MM:
Shinyong - #2505462
Natsuki Doll - #1855590

There are a couple more of you out there that I've already contacted and hopefully, with the right timing, I can add to this short list soon.
